time for another proposal to be shot down, but it seems ludicrous to me that the prospect draft is random when players like puig, ryu, myers and now tanaka show up in them. so the three time defending champ, who won 103-games gets tanaka? this is why I proposed a prospect should be someone yet to appear in the majors, although as long as the foreign import rule circumvents the free agent draft, cubans and Asian players will continue to dominate the prospect5 draft before the lowly teams who are trying to rebuild get a chance to grab them in free agent draft, unless they're lucky enough to randomly get a high pick in the prospect.

and to that, we should add the Cubans (Puig, Abreu, Cespedes,etc), Mexicans, Dominicans, Curacoians, Hawaïns (when the guy is good as Victorino), the Canadians (when the guys is good as Votto), the the Koreans (another Choo, we never know), etc.

the point is jfat, you dominate as it is...and several of the regular west and central division teams have pretty low draft picks, Im pretty sure almost any of us would have taken tanaka, especially now that we've seen him dominate and knowing he'll have a card by next season. guys like Bryant MIGHT be up at some point, but probably limited.

plus clarification...."has never been issued a card..." does this automatically eliminate guys like brian Wilson and jose valverde from this draft?

In the Pre-card league, 1 month ago, we had a prospect draft. Tanaka was on top of my list and apparently the list of others. Tcochran picked him #3, I was #4 and picked Bryant... Not much difference there !
