Help confirm, right or wrong?

PostMon Apr 21, 2014 4:02 am

If you look at this 80s team link:

http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/team/misc/1128539

It shows Rod Carew was 1 out of 4 on ballpark homeruns. That means he actually hit a ballpark homerun, which would mean he is playing on his 77 card because that's the only card that has a side with "N" power. (He also got HBP earlier in the season, further narrowing it down).

So, am I right, or am I missing something. He just seems to be underperforming pretty bad, so I'm second guessing myself.

His 1977 card is the only one he could hit a BPHR off of. I like it when I think players are underperforming when they are hitting .312.

I have recently wondered about this very topic, and as it applies to Rod Carew in particular. I was unwilling to assume it was his 1977 card simply based on a BPHR chance but you would think since it says 1 for 4 that he hit the HR once. The problem is what if he connected on the BPHR but with the W power and only received a single, how would that show up in the stats? :?:

Are we sure we can make assumptions on this basis? Maybe the computer credits the batter with the BPHR if the roll meets the criteria even if the player is a W. In other words it could have come off the pitcher's card and it could have been a single but still show up as a BPHR chance that was successful... I know I am getting deep in the weeds here and splitting hairs, but does anyone know for certain this is NOT the case?

Check out your previous leagues and see if he ever got a BPHR in a non-77 year. I checked a couple and it recorded BPHR chances, but no successes. Only checked a few.

I just simmed this in the CDROM game, if a "W" hits a "BPHR" that converts to a Single, the stats DO NOT record the "BPHR".
