I have recently wondered about this very topic, and as it applies to Rod Carew in particular. I was unwilling to assume it was his 1977 card simply based on a BPHR chance but you would think since it says 1 for 4 that he hit the HR once. The problem is what if he connected on the BPHR but with the W power and only received a single, how would that show up in the stats?
Are we sure we can make assumptions on this basis? Maybe the computer credits the batter with the BPHR if the roll meets the criteria even if the player is a W. In other words it could have come off the pitcher's card and it could have been a single but still show up as a BPHR chance that was successful...
I know I am getting deep in the weeds here and splitting hairs, but does anyone know for certain this is NOT the case?
