90s Keepers League Season 9: Full!

PostSun Apr 27, 2014 10:29 pm

UPDATE: League is full. Managers see new thread to name your keepers.
=============================================================
The 90s Keeper League is winding down its 8th season. We have two openings for next season. This is a rare opportunity to get into a great league!

Here is how it works. You protect three players from your adopted team's season 8 roster. Then there is a one round supplemental draft. That gives you four protected players to take into season 9. It's a fun format because you get the continuity of a keeper league but without any of the work.

The first manager to sign up will have his choice of the two available teams or he may defer. Whoever gets the "leftover" team will be able to select a new (but still unique) stadium. There is an $80 million salary cap, DH, waivers, 5/10/20 drop.

Here are the two teams:

"Lynx" Coors field................................ http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/team/1125973
(team includes Derek Jeter, Manny Ramirez) (CLAIMED)

"Reservoir Dogs" Tiger Stadium................ http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/team/1126502
(team includes McGwire, Sandberg, Walker)

Your are not obligated to take any of the players I mentioned above; you can take any three players. Also, you can keep, cut, or trade any of your keepers. Of course, if you drop one of them because they got a stinker year, there is always the chance (a good chance) another manager will pick him up. It makes for some tough choices!

Here are the official league rules if you enjoy reading the "fine print": viewtopic.php?f+9&t=860&p=10868

If you are the first manager to sign up, indicate which team you want (or indicate that you want to defer)
If you are the second manager to sign up, you can pick your stadium later (unless first manager deferred; then pick a team)

Requirements: You need to be able to check the boards daily when the supplemental draft is taking place (it will start approximately May 3). Basic familiarity with the 90s set will be helpful.

I've been in this league since it started. What a great bunch of managers to play with. I won't give up my seat, no way, but unfortunately 2 fine managers had to. That leaves 2 rare openings for 2 new managers. Jump in with us and have fun.

I would love to play! I will take the coors field team

"Lynx" Coors field................................ http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/team/1125973
(team includes Derek Jeter, Manny Ramirez)

Could someone please post a list of keepers for other teams, or for the whole league?

Will this be a live draft or auto?

Welcome aboard BigAMcInroy!!

Our league just passed game 142 and our rosters are frozen. We will be declaring our 3 keepers soon and the Commish (Coyote) will post all the keepers from each team. Feel free to select your 3 at this time if you'd like.

Then as soon as the season ends the supplemental draft will begin for the 4th keeper on each team. A new unique stadium can be selected with your supplemental pick and your 4th keeper will then be selected in spot #13. After every team has 4 keepers we then go to autodraft.

OK...Room for just 1 more...

Any chance of live draft? I have been dying to try one for real.

That's for the Commish. I myself would be in favor of it.

Welcome BigA.

Live would be interesting wrinkle in keeper league, coming off my first live draft, I'm game.

So it would be 3 keepers, then 1 round supplemental, then 21 players in live draft? if we all decide to this. Timing could be issue in live draft.

Re: 90s Keepers one opening left for Season 9

Welcome, BigA! Glad to have you. The Coors team is yours. We will start naming our keepers as soon as we fill the final manager slot. Then after everyone names their keepers, we will start the supplemental draft. I'll provide a complete list of keepers once they are named.

The idea of doing a live draft is intriguing. However, I just don't see getting all 12 managers being available at the same time. You can decide whether to join a league, of course, based on when the draft is scheduled. We don't have that luxury to say I won't join because the time doesn't work; we're already committed to this league. I know my schedule this time of year is crazy, and I'm retired.

Anyway, we are still looking for one more manager. If you have a friend who might be interested, send him our way.
