NLD35 - The NLD Lives on!

I replicated the league rosters for the 2013 SOM season.

If anyone wants to share their opinion of the game rules and options settings (e.g., super advance, primary, misc max rules), please do so. I've my ideas how Bernie built the game but will be happy to adjust.

For pitching, I've built your default SP rotation and back end of the bullpen (closer role).

For batting, I've entered your R/L lineup cards where available. Unfortunately, I've not established your defensive replacements or situation hitting specialists. HAL does a fair job of adjusting fielders.

For your manager strategy, I used the default computer manager. In several instances, HAL has altered the default settings (normal) and placed "aggressive" or "conservative" settings for base path running or relief.

The obvious is obvious - LHSPs are no longer a rare sighting in the NLD series. From that jump off point, you can see how LHSPs impacted various team's strategies despite their ball park dimensions dictating a different player selection.

I have the new game on cd rom as well. I should try that out too!

Thanks. I'll make the adjustments this evening and then post simulation trends after a few runs. I'm trying to figure out the database record keeping so I can catalog the runs.

The early view is:

McCutchen frequently mentioned among year-end awards
Kershaw consistently named Cy Young and frequent MVP candidate

Joe's squad is a consistent top 3 team - his squad fits the balanced park in an asymmetrical division
Korky's team crushes balls, fences, and garbage cans. If he gets the + pitcher card rolls, this squad can pull it out again.
Gbrooke's squad is a tale of two dice. Since HAL isn't great spotting SP specialists, this squad either ROCKS or gets ROLLED.

While I hated cutting Choo Choo loose, HAL's in game ability to attack Choo with the array of LHSPs and LHRPs - rendered Choo's unbalanced no-power LH side - a $.75m proposition. That said, it was a bad choice for me to roster him especially with Davis and Ellesbury occupying the unbalanced roles.

I toyed with grabbing Ryan Braun but my home park is still a LH park. We'll see if the platoons work out - HAL didn't overly reward me for the platoon move but we'll see

When you're sitting with the wife as she zombies on the "Housewives of [fill in the city]", you can knock it out in two full episodes. The best part - said wife - can then spend the rest of the week telling me that STRAT is a time sink of a hobby for me.

Nice to see that Raj Davis has 3 home runs in 9 games. He had 6 in 108 games during his 2013 MLB year. Someone best check Raj's bat

He is 0-2 with a 6.52ERA and 1.91WHIP That is a small sample but he has a long way to. The guy is a pig! He is a great pitcher and has a great card but Strat hates him.
I have had him on a Keeper league last year for 2 seasons and 1 so far this year and a couple of regular season teams. Did I say Strat hates him and he is a pig! My Keeper team is 75-39 now and he is 16-12 losing 4 of the last 6. He has a 4.14ERA and 1.22WHIP. Of my starters only Thornburg is worse with a 7-9 record and a 4.87ERA. Archer is 13-5 with a 3.70ERA, Masterson (who I traded Lee for straight up) is 15-4 3.05ERA (leads CY Young vote) and Fernandez is 12-6 2.99ERA and 1.08WHIP. I play at GAB so ERA should be higher but he should be my best pitcher ERA and WHIP wise. He is a PIG because STRAT hates him and he gives up the long ball like Jeep gives it up to Frank !
