Your players have 5 possible cards they will be using in the league. The mystery is that you won't know for sure which card you have till after the season and SOM reveals the card year. During the season you can try to figure out the card thru injuries and actual stats. If you find it is one of his worst cards that may not be worth his salary you can drop him for someone else. That is the basics.

From Franky's rules it seems as though once the season begins you can pick up any player from any undrafted team you would like. Based on those rules I am dropping out. Good Luck fellas. :)

Rjnewman! Come on and give it a try. Since the 1969 league shut down, I migrated over to the Mystery format, and I understand it pretty well by now. If you are in a league with me, I'd be happy to give you some pointers during the first few days of the league so you'd be up to speed quickly. The basics are: each player could be one of 5 selected seasons - this does not change for the entire season. For example, Willie Stargell could be 1969, 1970, 72, 73 or 75. When the season starts, only HAL knows which of those seasons Stargell is playing. But let's suppose in Game 9, Stargell gets injured on a hbp; the only season that this could happen is 75; so, we know Stargell is on his 75 season and he will be for the entire season. So, the trick is to find players on their better seasons and to cut players if you figure out they are on one of their worse seasons. I really like the mystery format.

LMBombers, I am trying to develop rules that are simple but still allow owners to pick a franchise like Cleveland or Montreal and still be competitive. How about we take a rule from Japanese baseball and only allow a maximum of 4 players on your roster to be from another team? Would that make you change your mind?

I am interested in the 12 team league. Not at all in a six team. Would prefer that the non franchise players be limited as much as possible. I'd go for the 16 player minimum, 2/3 salary cap idea, as well as the 3 or maybe 4 million dollar cap on salaries for non franchise players.

How about if we draft franchises 1-12 then 12-1 with each owner getting rights to two teams. Any card with 3 or more years for a team is tied to that team. If no more than 2 seasons for a single team then he would be a total free agent.
Tied to the same teams for all 4 decades.

I'm in regardless of what format is chosen. Thanks.

as someone who has swum at the Powell Crosley YMCA, I think that is a pretty cool name. I think the two teams themes are fun, but since I think that there should be enough players available over a decade, this is a single team theme.

I have posted the rules and a sign up list in a separate thread. The sign up thread thread includes a vote on the number of free agents that each team can have on their roster. Please sign up!

Wow... I had been checking and hadn't seen any responses for a couple of days, then stopped checking.. .and the ball got rolling. Great. I have no problem with Franky taking control of things... I had never run a league anyways. Glad the idea got some people interested. I will sign up if I can.
