Rjnewman! Come on and give it a try. Since the 1969 league shut down, I migrated over to the Mystery format, and I understand it pretty well by now. If you are in a league with me, I'd be happy to give you some pointers during the first few days of the league so you'd be up to speed quickly. The basics are: each player could be one of 5 selected seasons - this does not change for the entire season. For example, Willie Stargell could be 1969, 1970, 72, 73 or 75. When the season starts, only HAL knows which of those seasons Stargell is playing. But let's suppose in Game 9, Stargell gets injured on a hbp; the only season that this could happen is 75; so, we know Stargell is on his 75 season and he will be for the entire season. So, the trick is to find players on their better seasons and to cut players if you figure out they are on one of their worse seasons. I really like the mystery format.
