Gotta define playing. Is there a minimum frequency? They have to play regularly now or do we count them if they just own the game.

I own cards going back the 70s. I own computer games going back to the floppy discs. I own several versions of the cdrom game. I own about 20 seasons of computer teams but can only play about a dozen because Strato stole almost a dozen back from me. Paid full $25 price but with DRM your ownership is only as secure as the honesty and integrity of those controlling the DRM. That is why I am now playing out the string on my credits and shelved my plans to spend over $2000.00 and buy all the computer based seasons.

Not really answering the question - I would have no idea. But just as a follow up to Valen's comment - I and neighbor boys started playing Strat in the mid-60s. My first and oldest cards are the 1964 season - and they're in pretty good shape. The dice game was pretty simple and straight-forward then.

My first set was the 63 cards. Saw an ad in a magazine in the winter of 64. By the time I learned the game, the 64 cards were out so I ordered those 2. I had 2 friends who I played the game with. Much later we added 5 others for an 8 team "league"

I have no idea how many play worldwide (gameboard. cd, online).

There are 4,470 registered users on this SOM site. But, there is no telling if there are duplicate registered members or what their frequency of play is. The frequency is obviously not very often since leagues would fill much faster. On the old TSN site it list how many games customers actually played.

If there are 5000, and strat could retain them with an online version of strat similar to the cdrom games but more graphically appealing with an interface similar to pokerstars (log in, download the gaming software, see rooms for leagues and individual games etc.) then they charged 20.00 a month or 200.00 a year...

That would be a million dollars in revenue each year. Im not sure, but my feeling is, that a million a year is a large enough revenue stream to support an infrastructure for only 5000 users. But as always when I speak of something Im no expert in, I could be wrong.
