In this 3 round serpentine draft, you can either pick (a) 3 players that have split teams on their card one of which is your team, or (b) 2 players that have split teams and 1 player that only played for non-selected teams. For example, Frank Robinson has cards for the Reds and for the Orioles, so the Reds or Orioles could draft him. Ron Santo only has cards for the Cubs, and the Cubs weren't selected by anyone, so he could be drafted as a free agent that only played for non-selected teams.
After the opening day, each team may have up to 3 free agents. After opening day, your free agents could be any player that is not carded for your team. The ability in the 3 round draft to draft one free agent that only played for non-selected teams, I call the George Brett rule since no one selected KC and I wanted to avoid a feeding frenzy for Brett after opening day.
