Oh my gosh, you can do that? I knew there were good reasons I NEVER play non salary cap leagues!
If there is no cap or cap is high enough to absorb the cap hit you can drop a card and pick up another year version of same player and since that is considered a "different" card injury and fatigue will not carry over. It is much the same thing as having say George Brett and having him go down for 15 so you grab his slightly cheaper version and play it until the injury time period has passed. Dropping one Pedro for another year would have the same impact.
It can also be done if you have 2 teams in a league so you can trade the card back and forth. Fatigue is not remembered after a trade. Most leagues do not allow 2 teams so that is rarely an issue. But if you are joining a league which was created to allow that best to bring it up early to verify if it is part of the theme or not so you avoid arguments if someone decides to use the strategy after teams are drafted and season starts. No making everyone happy if not established ahead of time as those not using it may cry foul while if team using it thought it was part of the theme (such as a deadball theme) and based draft cards on the strategy.
This is something that should be allowed for theme purposes but should be an optional feature with the default not allowing it. And I am talking about both the pitcher swapping to avoid fatigue and the swapping to avoid injury. They are both 2 sides of the same coin IMHO.
