Free agents pick up during waivers - OK, I hear you. We'll change the rule so that now you can pick up your free agents during waivers or the preseason. However, you cannot pick your free agents during the autodraft (except for the one free agent allowed during the 3 round draft).

During the preseason, you cannot draft free agents that belong to other teams; for example, Willie Stargell is off limits during the preseason. Once the season starts, you can pick up any available player (such as Willie Stargell if he isn't on the Pirates) as long as you don't have more than 3 free agents on your roster at any time.

The owners of the Reds and Cardinals are complaining that their teams were so dominant during the 60s that they don't have enough 0.75 mil players, and they would like to use non-team 0.75 mil players from other teams to create more cap space to fill their rosters with still more superstars. Cry me a river. You can have at most 3 free agents on your roster. This rule is not being changed no matter what the salary of the free agent.

I have updated the rules in the Single Team Theme thread to indicate that it is ok to take free agents during waivers (but the maximum on your roster is always 3).

I was pretty relaxed, in fact, asleep until just now. And, I aint crying, winning is not a great concern, I just like playing with the best cards (Cards), not wasting $ on bench players and I was thinking of others guys, figured it might be even harder for others. Draft on fellow Stratonutz :)

For whatever it's worth, I think that we should try to fill our rosters with the rules as they have been laid out. But, we should be aware that it may become difficult to fill the rosters and fit them under the salary cap with a more limited selection. For instance, I am already somewhat regretting my pick of Billy Williams in this free-agent draft, simply because I have gone back and realized that my choices are going to be supremely limited at certain other positions.

Let's keep in mind that this entire concept, as originally proposed by me and wonderfully carried out by franky35, is basically an experiment. We are all used to having our pick of the entire free agency pool, so we are all not used to being "stuck" with limited or even no choices when filling out our rosters. There will be managers having to keep playing players they really don't want to, or possibly even situations where managers cannot meet roster obligations as the rules are drawn up. I see no reason why we can't deal with such situations as they arise and if necessary adjust accordingly, just like we have been doing. I have been in similar theme leagues before, and managers inevitably accidentally sign players who they weren't eligible to sign, or are forced to use an underperforming player as a starter at least for a time. It's a learning experience, but we can make it a fun one... and in my opinion it does make you a better manager in the long run.

Also, I know that in some if not all of the other sets, you can search for players by franchise, but you cannot in the 60s: therefore, the process of filling and adjusting your rosters will get easier in future seasons. Until then, most of these issues and concerns will likely sort themselves out once we get past the draft and into waivers.

Any free agent selections during the draft would have to be listed as the 24th and 25th choice, right?
