Hey evamaria, thanks for chiming in and explaining. Makes me feel a lot more comfortable.

Someone else already noted it is usually bad strategy to do do a lot of dropping after league starts due to the cap penalty. And you already noticed how sensitive we can be when someone gets carried away.

Might note that a lot of the excitement/hysteria you saw coming your way is because of past history of some people using this technique for nefarious purposes. Anyone who has been through that is a little sensitive and on the watch. So hope you understand those who got upset and everyone forgives everyone. :D

Most of all since you are showing by your post that you are a stand up person welcome to the community and hope you enjoy the hobby.

And remember if you need help or advice most here are as quick to step up as they are to complain.

Unluckily for you, the league you joined filled on a Friday so the waivers were on Sunday and the season started Monday night leaving a 1-day free agent period with no salary penalty. Keep that in mind. Usually the FA period is much longer.

Great point, and I purposely try to avoid leagues filling on Friday for just that reason

Back when I played a lot I often waited up on Friday night until I was certain the deadline had passed and then jumped in to a league based on what was available. Usually tried to avoid being in west division just in case I was joining too soon there would be some wiggle room.

I just always liked not only having more time for free agent moves but time to talk trade with various people whether one was actually pulled off or not. But I would typically pull off between 3 and 6 in most leagues.
