I did send an e-mail to Strat-o-Matic last night indicating we were only on round 12 of the draft and there seemed to be no chance we would be done in time to start Monday. I reminded them that Monday was Memorial Day and wondered if somebody should move the start date back today (Friday). Here was the response I got:

Regarding Memorial Day Weekend, I am assuming the clock will be off. It would be great if people could post if they will not have access to the boards for a long time so that if the draft stops at a person who is away the rest of us know we don't need to check before their return. (Even better, of course, if you can send out proxies!)

Also, I did have a crazy idea that I just thought I would throw out there for discussion: Would it work OK if people made two picks at a time? (Tom and Curt would then be making four picks when the draft got to them.) It seems like then we could cut the remaining draft time in half. Obviously there would also be more potential for all your choices to be weaseled before your turn if, say, you were hoping to get one of three players with your next draft choice.

I wouldn't have been regardless of where I was in the order - I think this throws a monkey wrench in the works that can and will mess up teams' draft plans (even more than they usually get messed up). Look, I know this is a slow, agonizing process, and we all miss Diamond Dope - but at this point, I don't think we want to experiment any more than we already have.

I don't think we have the autodraft option, though, since we're going to going to give Strat-o-Matic the entire list and they are going to load the teams up for us.
