Hello Everyone,
I'm currently on VaK in Europe but obviously have checked in on the site because we're between seasons & wanted to make sure I was keeping up with what's going on with the SUP draft. I looked at the stadium deals that were just completed & feel what just happened was a 'creative way' of circumventing the three year requirement & the stadium rule in general by trading stadiums, dropping stadiums & trading stadiums again among the same two teams. After acquiring the stadium in a trade I don't think you can go ahead & drop the stadium you just acquired because the 3 year clock started once the stadium was acquired. Therefore once the 3 year clock started or was reset after acquiring the new stadium that stadium stays with that team for 3 years or until traded but can't be acquired & subsequently dropped to pick up a new stadium. Not to mention that the stadium that was picked up then gets traded back to the same team that just made the previous stadium trade. Looks like a maneuver to get the team a stadium they wanted to get in the first place because they couldn't drop their own stadium since they were still on the 3 year clock. Needless to say I have my objections as to what just happened & think we as a league should look into this rule very closely & possibly have the rule reworded, buttoned up & a proposal brought to the league for a vote. I think 3 years should mean 3 years (6 seasons) & once the 3 years are up you can either drop or trade the stadium but not be able to trade the stadium 'during' the 3 years. Maybe we could look into shortening it up to 2 years (4 seasons) instead of 3 years (6 seasons) if everyone feels this is too long without being able to make an adjustment. Don't get me wrong because I believe in being able to do things to help our teams. Everyone just take a minute to look at the most recent stadium trades & weigh in on it when you get a moment & maybe we can open up this discussion further when I return over the weekend.
What just happened looks like getting around the spirit of why the rule was created in the first place.
Thanx,
