Greinke

PostMon Jun 09, 2014 9:35 am

So what does SOM have against Zack Greinke?? Year after year the guy is one of the best in MLB and year after year SOM gets his card wrong. He is available in all but two of my leagues and I have him in one and is a stellar 4-11 5.55 and not doing any better for another manager in the other. Its not just this year either it seems every year his card is way off what it should be. Is it because when he was a FA he chose Cal over NY where SOM is located haha. Just wondering how this could happen .

No complaint here, after 84 games Greinke is 10-5, 2.41

Wish I could get anywhere close to that out of him. I got 4-11 out of him and I would accept that if it was a hard luck 4-11 with a half decent era but he is getting clubbed start after start and his 5.55 era puts him in the 1 or 2 mil range for starters. Wonder if there are any other examples out there?

He's done just okay for me on one team, and the only reason I have him on it is because it's a Franchise theme league team. But, based on my team and other teams with Greinke I've seen--Scumby's team being an exception--I would agree that SOM hasn't quite produced a 2.63 ERA, 1.11 WHIP card. And while they never do (or can) provide a card that would produce such accuracy, it looks like they did underwhelm with Zack this year.

I have only used him in a 20 team cdrom keeper league, but he has underachieved there as well

Here is Grienke not doing to bad for me. His numbers are pretty decent.

I think HAL does have favorites. Jeff Smardizja (or however you spell it) is doing OK for that team.

Here's another example of Smardizja.

Not bad for a #5 *starter @ 1.12

How much would you think is attributable to the talent pool only having 12 teams instead of 30? Granted, the salary cap makes the rosters shallower, but most SOM online teams will have benches that guys who get 300 AB of mediocrity in real life, but only 20 in a season replay.

I went through my leagues and he has not fared well at all when he has been used and he has been dropped a couple times. I guess every season a card or two just dont measure up.
Congrats to Snake by the way for his valiant effort on the spelling of Samardzija. I have used him a couple times and he eats up innings and will give you some K's. I would certainly use him in the right situation
