ATG VIII

PostThu Jun 12, 2014 5:03 pm

Coming soon per Garcia's Blog. Super advanced cards replacing other cards where available. Some single season Negro League cards.....Japanese players....Cuban players though not many of any of those. Some new stadiums.

Not too sure about some of those additions but will wait and see.

PLEASE.........if you HAVE TO add Japanese and Cuban cards, make them in some way like the unleashed feature. I'm so unexcited about this part of the addition I don't even know what else to say.

Totally agree! If Oh starts going in the first round of the live high cap drafts, that will end it for me!

I agree, Cuban and Japanese players have no place in any of the cards released in ATG 8. If they are included I would recommend that we all boycott them... never, ever, ever use them!!

I agree. Cuban and Japanese players have no business being in the set. There is absolutely no way to possibly say what relationship stats from Japan 40 years ago compare to major league numbers. And Cuban players? Seriously? The thing ceases to be all time greats and becomes all time jokes.

People will have no choice. It is like the super reliever strategy. Regardless of how one might feel about it when all your competition is using it to get 300 innings from a $4-5 mil reliever you are at too much of a disadvantage if you do not counter. If a card like say Oh is in the set and looks like the Ruth card and I am using it you will have no choice, especially if I know everyone else will boycott so I can have great chance of getting the legitimate cards like Aaron and the joke Oh card. And that does not even consider the possibility of cards like say Abreu. There have been some monster seasons in the Cuban league due to diluted competition and other factors. Can you imagine how silly the Abreu card would look like given his .399/.555/.822 slash line with 82 runs, 30 homers, 76 RBI and 74 walks to 49 strikeouts in 89 games? If that card is out there you can bet on two things. One I will call it a joke. Two I will have the card on my team so I do not have to face it.

Though I think if the ATG8 set comes out with silly Japanese and Cuban cards I will just quit playing ATG, wait for the new cards to come out next year and then play out my remaining credits in that 200x season.

This just makes ATG basically fantasim which had a niche following but there was a reason it never caught on with the majority. You would think strat would have learned from people demanding they remove those fantasim cards from the set and not have chosen to add similary fantasy cards in to the ATG8.

So, what's the difference between that and the NeL players then?

Why not? Bring 'em on. They've been playing ball there for years.

This is like waiting months for the new Ford models and there's only a Festiva behind the curtain and the models are from the AARP commercials.
