Guys updated rosters have been sent out. If I don't get cuts from Smokey & Cubit by Sunday night midnight Eastern, then we'll have to proceed without them in the Supp portion, but I trust they'll get theirs done shortly.

Let me know if any questions.

Also, if you want to switch parks, let me know now and we will also do the mid-season park drop/draft. I have only heard from one owner so far on that score.

Cheers,
Dave

Guys, per my email, I am skipped Cubit in Rnd 1 of the Supp as his penalty for not posting drops (assuming he does in fact want in on the draft). He will be able to take a makeup pick later. Clock as normal for the prospect draft where Palm is up.

schedule & participation

PostMon Jun 23, 2014 12:42 pm

Guys,

I see that there was a misunderstanding by Cubit about our start date for drafts, and I wanted to acknowledge that and also explain where I am in terms of penalties, skips, participation etc, not just with Cubit but the league in general.

I don't expect the league to run like clockwork 100% of the time. But I do expect owners to show up for drafts and to read league emails. In this particular case the rest of the league said they were ready to draft this week and all posted cuts, and given how hard it is to cat-herd everyone to begin with, I did not want to wait for Cubit to come back and inconvenience everyone else who knew the drafts were starting this week and were supposed to be completed within a couple of days.

Also, I tend to be less forgiving in general in this phase of the draft process because both prospects and supp players taken tend to have a marginal impact on play, most of the high value players get taken in the spring phase, with a few exceptions.

In that context I will be keeping clock as best I can during work and will try to move us along. If you feel like you can't keep up, or that this approach is unfair, sorry but I've kinda reached the breaking point to where I'd rather recruit folks who can keep us running smoothly, so please let me know if you want out, no hard feelings. I don't expect SOM to take priority over real life, but I also want folks who can keep us moving most of the time, say 90%. Part of being Hard Core in this league is participation - that means having good communication skills via email, text, etc, sending proxies. And if you do miss a beat on occasion that's ok with me as long as you're ok with the consequences.

So again, to clarify my ruling on Ted's situation, he is welcome to either make picks when he can during either draft, but we won't be holding up our process at this point. If he is skipped through both drafts, he is welcome to make his make-up picks when he has full net access again.

I hope that is all clear, let me know if any questions.

I have a swim meet this afternoon starting at 4pm that will last well into the evening ( 10pm) assuming it gets to me in either draft after 4pm. I've sent [proxies and instructions to qksilver.

I have now returned from my trip to Saipan and Japan where I was without internet despite my rather expensive iPhone roaming "donations" to both AT&T and Softbank. I fully understand that I was the one who seemed to have missed the bus on the start date for the pre-second season activities, so now an trying to catch up on what happened in my absence and I'll be scrounging about to see who might be left. I is a pity since I certainly would have left a few proxies picking up first choice in both drafts and would certainly have , but I appreciate being allowed to pick at all. I am working my way through the rosters and the picks and then post.

qksilver69 wrote:Guys, FYI I have been doing a LOT of simming, full HCKL league & divs. Here are my conclusions:

- I was off on Cubit's team, his pitching is not strong enough at the moment & too lopsided. He's winning more in the 78-82 range most seasons at this point.

- Lev is stronger than I thought and usually contends for the WC with Niners around 90-92 wins.

- With the addition of CarGo, my team has climbed from 90-92 wins to 94-98 wins.

- Jason usually wins his div but more in the 92-96 win range, not as dominant as I thought.

- Hawk unfortunately while you drafted nice pitching, your offense is not up to par. Still coming in from 72-76 wins and Thornburg is way overrated, he is getting crushed by reverse RH lineups.

For those who don't know my sim history, I do a full custom-made manager for each team just as if I owned your team. This includes at least 3 lineups (vs RH, vs LH, vs reverse RH) and on some occasions vs. reverse LH as well, bullpen settings, etc. Feel free to ask me any questions.

Wish I had read this before our first season…. I blithely thought my bombers might carry me through. Now I've missed much of the inter-season draft, but I will pick up Tanaka next year, though I will have to find s replacement for the very disappointing Davis of 2014.
