I think adding a second round single-player draft defeats the entire purpose of this league, and robs it of its uniqueness. It could really screw up the plans of the second-round teams by stealing a key player from the half-franchise they wanted. The reason I joined this league is because it required a lot of different thinking in the draft. Allowing everyone to cherry-pick a stud player before the second round strikes me as truly unfair to the bottom teams in the draft order. A rule change of this magnitude--after the draft has started--is just not cricket.
If we really think that some extra advantage is necessary for the lower teams, then wait until the six-round draft has been completed so that the supplemental player can be picked only from half-franchises or the NeL that weren't drafted--in reverse draft order, of course.
On ATG 8, I would vote no for the same reason: it alters the league we agreed to join. Besides, as rburgh has noted, it doesn't really contain any game-changing additions.
