You're 10-20 in 1-run games. If you think there's something you can do to address that, go for it. If you chalk it up to one of those bad-luck seasons, shrug and hope for the best. I usually stand pat, hope the tide turns and tweak the next team if I see a way to improve it. The only real consistent winning strategy in this game is to score more runs than your opponents every league you're in.

My apologies. I didn't mean to be harsh, just honest about my perception, such that it is. I have had better production, doubles and triples wise from Dahlen and your platoon. However, that may be to more chances because of the park (forbes 09, 57) that I play in.

For Example. My team with 102 games played right now has Dahlen. He has 10 more extra base hit's than your Dahlen. The team as a whole has 198-69-83 in the extra base hit categories, but the team is built to do that (other than the leadoff hitter)...and more importantly are playing in Forbes '57. So, it may just be a ballpark thing.

Base running wise my guys are 281-195-19. Avg speed on my team is 15

Yours is 209-84-19.

My fielding is atrocious as well (112 errors), so I think the speed thing may be the greatest factor in your lack of success.

PS. I would NOT change anything on your team now FA-wise.

1. Dropping players now would put you at a huge disadvantage against the other teams and probably not lead to any great change in W/L.

2. The data you get from this team will be far more valuable than any short term success you gain from rolling the dice in the FA market.

Scanned your schedule of games played. Noting a lot of lopsided wins and a lot of close losses. I did not look closely at the individual games. But you should look closer at those 1 run losses. Is your bullpen letting you down in those? I find that low respected things like base stealing, bullpen, and general ability to manufacture runs leads to poor performance in close games. Power lends itself to lopsided wins. This can skew expected wins based on run differential.

I noticed that most of your pitching staff is leaning heavily towards the right. Every SP is leaning right, and two of your three most used relievers are leaning right. Do you face primarily right-handed batters? If so, keep them. But check out your opponents in your division and determine if you need that many righties.

Robert,

I'm in a rh hitting division so I built the staff to address that. I went back and looked at my last 10 close losses and 4 of the 10 were due to errors. My fielding is killing me in close games. I'm going to ride this puppy out and hope for a run when I get into the divisional part of the schedule.

Your bullpen is killing you. 12 blown saves in 27 attempts is pretty bad. I might have gone with a little less starting pitching $$ and picked up a better reliever. In an 80 mill league, I do not think it is necessary to spent 8-9 Million on a starter. 5-6 million starters fair just as well, and leave more $$ to spend on hitting and bullpen players.

Also, when I play in a pitchers park I look for:

A) OBP
B) Defense
C) Speed on the base paths (do not necessarily want to steal a lot of bases, but want to be able to run the bases well)

Your defense is not good (which has been discussed extensively here)

But your team speed is poor also, with only Carew (1-17) and Dimaggio (1-16) decent base runners. Otherwise a lot of lead footed players.

My .02...good luck!
