Thanks for the update, rburgh. Much appreciated, along with the effort that went into selecting / pricing the new cards.

Couple of questions regarding the new cards that you identified: (1) For the Fingers '73 card-- it seems odd that he's listed as a starting pitcher. According to the game logs on baseball-reference.com, he only had two starts that season, and was knocked out in the second inning in one of them (the other was a 6-inning no decision). http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.cgi?id=fingero01&t=p&year=1973 I don't quite get how he qualifies for a starting pitcher card based on that -- and even if he's listed as a S5 or S6, that will probably affect his price enough that the card wouldn't be used in his true role, in relief. Other pitchers in the ATG set had much higher usage rates as a starter, but still only are classified as a RP - for instance, the 3.98M Tom Hughes card is based on a season with 13 starts in 40 appearances, and the R5 Mellie Wolfgang had 14 starts and 6 complete games in his 27 appearances. Does SOM have any sort of consistent rule for how a starter is classified?

(2) For Jocko Milligan- why is he classified as bulletproof if he missed over 20 games? Looks like a very strong offensive card, but the throwing error/ passed ball ratings are scary.

Please don't take these questions as criticism -- I'm just curious how these classification decisions were made, and we're certainly not going to get a substantive explanation from SOM. Thanks again.

dukie, I'm assuming that the Fingers 1973 card is a SuperAdvanced upgrade. Other cards that were RP that are now SP/RP are the 1958 Bobby Shantz (9L!), 1977 Ken Forsch 8L, 1924 Firpo Marberry, 1938 Bill Swift, 1973 Darold Knowles, 1977 Ron Reed, 1977 Mike Marshall, 1977 Adrian Devine, 1924 Dutch Henry, 1938 Fritz Ostermueller, 1938 Pete Appleton, 1938 Harry Eisenstat, 1973 Terry Forster, 1958 Billy Hoeft, 1938 Johnny Murphy, 1924 Syan Baumgartner.

I have no idea how they classify Relief Only or Starter based on real-life usage.

I'm not seeing Milligan's bullet-proofiness, though. He's got injury on 2-11 on LHP & RHP

Any information on how many cards SOM will be gracing us with? Doesn't seem to be much from the 21st century either.

220 new cards. How many of them are actually NEW players and NOT new cards of players already a part of ATG 7?

ONLY 65. That is VERY disappointing! We get about 330 upgrades of cards already being used. That I like. Of the about 220 NEW cards only 65 are NEW Players. So with about 550 Upgraded and NEW cards ONLY about 12% are actually NEW Players.

So I will ask. Of this list how many of them are added:

Brady Anderson '96, Carlos Delgado '00, Shawn Green '99 or '01, Dustin Pedroia '08,
Evan Longoria '09, Ellis Burks '96, Gary Sheffield '92, '96 or '00, Jose Reyes '11, Ken Caminiti '96, John Olerud '93,
Vinny Castilla '98, Steve Finley '96, Bret Boone '01, Dante Bichette '95, Tino Martinez '97, Bobby Grich '81, Sixto Lezcano '97, Dave Parker '78, Willie Stargell '73, Dusty Baker '72, Larry Hisle '77, Ralph Garr '74, Magglio Ordonez '07,
Matt Holliday '07 and Garret Anderson '03.

Well at least it's better than the last time they "upgraded" ATG. While I do appreciate the Chevy season upgrades, 220 new cards is still kind of a slap in the face. Would it have really been that hard to put out at least 300 new cards? Just seems like another case of SOM doing the bare minimum.

They could still salvage the new release by agreeing to add 10 cards per month. True, the deal was originally 20 but 10 might better meet their desire to give us as little as they can get away with. And it sure wouldn't hurt their sales to do so either.
