Im trying hard to withhold judgement until we see all the new stuff- but so far yes, underwhelming.

Also- am wondering if they did choose the new cards from all of those lists Bill compiled for us- and that many of us spent a great deal of time voting on. One would certainly hope so, but I take little for granted here.

Salty,

You should know better. They do what they want. When do they ever do what the customers really want?

Have low expectations. then you won't be disappointed.

I'm disappointed in the judgments posted her based on a few cards. Honestly, I think if a time traveler dropped into your house and gave you a jackpot winning ticket for your state lottery, most of you would bitch that it wasn't for the powerball.

Just how many $11 million cards not for players named Ruth or Bonds are left out there? Many of the requested cards were from George's list. But who do you think knows more about the collected SOM cards of the 17,000 people who have played MLB, George Barnard or Hal Richman?

Launch is scheduled for tomorrow - why don't you all look at more than 5 or 10 cards before posting your opinions? And please stop expecting them to find 50 new players that will impact $200 MM leagues - they probably just aren't there.

The one thing that I really think is a must is to get the best card of each hall of famer into the ATG card set. Get that done and everything else is gravy for me. Earl Averill, Chick Hafey, Sam Crawford, Goose Goslin, Jim Bottomely are a handful of examples of absolute musts in my opinion. I understand that we may not get them all at once but I feel they should be the priority. Just my two cents.

There does seem to be a lot of negativity here. I've only been online a year, and I love it. I'm looking forward to the new cards. And you're right, it's gonna be tough to find players that will have an impact on high cap leagues. But more cards is always better than less cards! :)

I think I am very positive. Just set the bar really, really low and have zero expectations based on previous experience. Then there is no reason to be disappointed. Let's just say the track record so far is less than stellar. Maybe, ATG8 surprises and they turn it around. We will find out soon enough.

 :o

so a couple of things;
think G.B. or Bill as his folks like to call him, MAY not know as much about the cards but he did painstakingly compile the lists of what people wanted- which was an incredibly thankless task- and why do all that if we aren't going from his lists of who are the most desired players?
I mean that as a serious question.

also, as i stated, am withholding my ultimate opinion until I see the cards- but for those Ive seen, am waiting to feel the excitement of it.

also also- while I do welcome new cards- let me explain why imo that's not really going to be enough for more than a few months time.
There was a promise made that new cards would be added every month- that was back 3 years ago- so if I multiply 10 new cards X 36 months I get 360 new cards- just what we were told to expect; its just now they are being given all at once and given a title of ATG8.

So yes, there is a fair bit of negativity- some caused by yours truly- but there are also a number of reasons why people like myself who were seriously into this game for a number of years feel that way- and Im generally much more critical of myself than I am of outside forces- but I also tells it like I sees it.

...and finally- Appreciate RBurgh you coming on and giving us updates- otherwise we would have none.

I bet many of us know more about the cards than Richman. And I bet that no one here, knows less about customer service than Richman. When Nev visited SOM and met with Bernie, Richman and Garcia, Richman had no clue whatsoever about what ATG even was.

Appreciate the updates, but you seem to have paid a price for the access you now seem to have. Never figured you for a cheerleader.

Here's my two pennies.

There are only two type of cards we should get, community requests and top tier cards. Top tier cards for higher cap leagues, or as a different big salaried player (or two) atop an 80m team....

We've got about what 3000 thousand players now 8m and under and a billion different player combinations for 100m and lower caps, (not to mention that probably 80% of the parks we have rarely get used). Point being, unless it's a mid to lower priced community request why add that type of card? Do we really need our 95th 2bman between 2-4m? I would find it hard to believe customers at 80m have become bored by their choices...Maybe it's just me, but I find winning at a 80m cap like shooting fish in a barrel but I don't play it often because there are sooo many choices, it becomes a case of diminishing returns.

Keep the top tier guys coming because it's the only way to hold long term interest in higher caps...Keep your customers happy by including many of their requests. But Most Importantly please Improve Game Play.

I hope ATG9 is much much more about improved game play and new game features.

He knew what ATG was, but wasn't sure salaries were assigned to the cards.
