Does Anyone Enjoy.....

PostTue Jul 08, 2014 10:17 am

Like many of you I am really looking forward to the ATG8 (even though the mystery game is my favorite). Does anyone enjoying playing in Post World War II, DH leagues with a moderate cap of 80 to 100 million. I am open to live draft (probably my preference) or auto draft..... Or do most people like to play with the whole set? Might I be able to find a post WWII league with DH at a moderate cap?.... Thanks for any replies, responses and thoughts.

We are 10 seasons into a Post-War DH League called 8m Franchise League.
Cap is set at 80m, and there is an 8m MAX on Hitters and SPs and a 4m MAX on RPs. Using all the Pre-90's franchises except San Diego and Seattle (just not enough players to make those two competitive). Once Autodraft runs, any player that played for your franchise after 1947 is eligible for your team. It's been fun so far........

I currently have 2 $999, an $100 and an $80 league ATG teams going. Also a 2013 $80. I have found that it is quite fun to mix it up :D

Scorehouse wrote, "No"........ I wonder was he speaking for the whole community or just himself? What type of leagues do you like to play in Scorehouse?

I understand people have all kinds of preferences when it comes to league options like salary cap, DH and subsets.

Here is a little of my reasoning for my preferences:

1. I don't like the prewar cards because the player pool was really small back then, "Whites Only". I am not sure how many deadball era players could make it college ball of today let alone AA minor league ball.

2. I don't like salary caps over 100 million dollars for lots of reasons. First of all I do not like Barry Bonds or many of the so called great players. I do not like teams without any weaknesses. And with so many great players the stats are just really skewed. I like it when teams have to choose where to hide their weaknesses. I am also not down with 999 million dollar leagues where you could platoon Babe Ruth with himself. And finally it seems like there is a lot of luck involved with an auto draft at the higher salary caps.

3. I am a big fan of the DH. I know many say that making the pitcher hit is the original way to play but just because it is original does not make it the best, improvements are just that. People say having the pitcher hit makes for more strategy and I say making your punter play QB for one play every series would add more strategy to the NFL, it does not mean I want to see some guy do something he is not very good at. If I want to see a mediocre caliber hitter bat I will go to a high school game.

These are just my preferences, I am not disparaging anyone else's preferences. And at least I can back my preferences up with sound logic, even if it is not for everyone else. To each their own and may you all enjoy the leagues you join. I just hope I am not alone in at least some of my preferences. Have fun guys,...if and when this new game ever comes out. :D :?

Prefer $60M 24 team leagues. Involved in a recurring league on the 14th iteration.

Live draft, $60M, 24 teams, That would be interesting.

I've seen previews of a cheap Ralph Garr card, not sure what other new cards will be added that will be useful at $60M. Hoping a link is provided to all the new cards so I don't have to try to find them all one at a time.

Prefer DH as it limits the damage HAL can do with defense and bullpens.
