Super Advanced Upgrade Memorial Thread

PostWed Jul 09, 2014 8:10 pm

A list of cards that will be missed now that they have been upgraded:

1924 Doc Prothro - unusable except as DH
1973 Terry Forster - now has SP rating... usable but had nice value as RP
1973 Bobby Bonds - he's a 1 in RF now but will miss the CF versatility
1977 Moret - a value favorite no more
1977 Ted Martinez - caught the injury bug
1958 Gene Woodling - was a cheap DH you could hit both ways, now you have to platoon him
1961 Don Zimmer - lost his pop
1961 Ray Sadecki - still usable but more expensive and now a reverse lefty
1961 Hal Reniff - fave righty specialist now has +9 hold rating
1973 Jay Alou - everybodys fave lefty platoon mate gone, still very usable as a nickel player
1938 Dolph Camili - strictly platoon material now

I am using the old 61 Sadecki in a lefty park at $80, he's been great. glad I found that card (just in time to miss it I guess)

Don't forget '71 Milt May. Now only a platoon player at best as catcher.

On a positive note:

I like the new '61 Mantle/Maris cards for the price.
Check out the new '58 Bobby Shantz!
The '61 Tommy Davis will be in a lot of platoons.

The 60's mystery league 1961 card is the same. Makes no sense.

The cheaper Dimaggio card went up, same for Hamilton, Carew, Greenberg and Delahanty.
I see a lot that went up.
I like the new Frank Thomas and Roberto Clemente cards.

I don't get why Moret went so high. He was good, but he wasn't THAT good?
