Problem with draft-Only 1 Catcher drafted

PostFri Aug 15, 2014 4:15 pm

Anyone ever see such a thing? My draft goes off, I get 25 players and HAL only drafts me 1 Catcher-no other player on my roster can catch. Now I can't drop any player before waivers because whoever I try to drop I get the error message that I can't drop because I need 2 catchers... I get the message even when trying to drop a pitcher.  Hope they solve this problem quickly, I did send an email to support.

Jon

Who were the two catchers on your draft card? One might have another position listed as their primary position so your replacement would be at that position. The 61 Berra is a left fielder as his primary position. I think if you miss out on him you get a left fielder in the draft as compensation.

See if someone has three catchers to trade you one of them so you can do waivers. I think that would solve your problem. If this is in reference to your team named Monkeys Uncle there are two teams with three catchers in that league.

After reading your question I could have been in the same predicament. Both of my catchers are secondary catchers, Torre and Berra and are primarily rated at another position. Never thought out what could happen if I didn't get either of the two I put on my draft card. Wont do that again.

Once upon a time in the TSN days you could draft a player like Chance who had a different primary position, miss, and it would then let you play entire season with just one catcher. Thought about doing a theme league around the "feature" but never got around to it. But I remember a debate when someone used the loophole to have a bulletproof catcher all year. I think the catcher in question was Mauer but do not remember for sure.

The fellas above describe what probably happened. Your situation can be fixed either during waivers or after waivers. It appears to stem from a computer glitch when you miss on a player who's primary position is not catcher but can play catcher after the auto draft.

I think it was done to make Josh Gibson bullet proof
