GB,

Wow that was quite the summation! I applaud you for airing out your strategy pre-season. Takes a lot of nerve experimenting in such a tough league.

Looking at the west we have 2 guys who were in the players championship finals and another who is the defending NLD champ. I have my hands full!

This group is such an amazing group of Strat gamers - it will be fun discussing how it turns out together!

And sharing this particular strategy doesn't really expose me to a lot of countermeasures. So we can explore it together - whether it works well, whether the salary costs make more sense with the strategy, or whether it really doesn't make too much difference. I just think it will be interesting to test it out!

GB,

Not sure about the "throwing strategy". I think a lot more has to go into a team and I suspect it did. ;)

Semper just couldn't help himself and started making some moves. The Sims must not have been *that* good. :)

My sims aren't telling me more than what can be observed by the naked eye. The ROI on Cishek is negative with Kimbrel and Torres being my first calls to the bullpen. I had Smyly on my NLD35 draft card so he'll get a nod for NLD36.

Wilhelmsen is Walmart version of Cishek. Plus, Tom did fine on my Progressive park NLD35 team. I liked GB's NLD35 pitching strategy so I'll work Ohlendorf against the extremely RHB teams and toss him long relief.

My hitters need a little help. I tagged Beltran as my one big splurge. Of course, I forgot to drop Cishek pre waiver for the cash so I didn't have the funds for Beltran.

Now it's fine tuning time.

Cashed in Ohlendorf and Wilhelmsen to fund my IF injury replacements less Jody Mercer becomes the ultimate utility IF.

Time ticks on a few owners to rationalize their squads. My SIMs show quite a few $$ rostered players with less than 200 PAs. We'll see who leverages up and moves the dead weight.

After trading Carlos Santana for Charlie Blackmon & then adding Gerald Laird, the Naples squad is coming together with one or two more small role players to be added today.

With best guess L/R lineups, the SIMs are fairly consistent now. The majority of the teams are a dice roll away from playoff rounds. I've yet to find one team that ain't a contender on sequential SIM runs. The divisional races are close between #1 & #2 place finishers.

That said, several teams stick out for hitting, batting, and fielding -- good, bad, and damn out ugly. At least one or two teams are 50+ errors ahead of the norm which typically spells doom for those squads. Teams with high xOuts appear to more competitive than I'd expect.

Hats off to Bonn's pitching as it finishes #1 or #2 every sim. :o

As for hitting, the owners who spent money on the hitters shall be happy. The flip side, those that went cheap on the arms and gloves need dice love more than ever. ;)

GB,

Your quest for OF arms -- the SIMs show the average OF assists to be around 25 outs per team. If I can, I'll check on the teams that run and those that don't. HAL's generated computer manager strategy seems to establish team's running to aggressive and normal. I'll look at those squads and determine if HAL knows something about the team speed or just a bad setting.

We're all ardent followers of "luck" before anyone would claim the "stratologist" camp.

Joe is likely the deepest on stat stuff with the rest of the gang possessing their own worksheets and formulas. :)

For some odd reason Jason Giambi remains available in FA - even though a few of us discussed his viability as a 1st round pick. :D

GMAC I'm sure you're squad is as capable as any of ours...that is providing you don't waste that $8 mil+ sitting in your cap.
