I had forgotten about Menke, once a favorite of mine. He comes really quite close (162 games at 1B). Gantner wasn't at 1B or SS often.

Molitor didn't play much SS and was 3 games short of 200 at 1B.

Kevin Mitchell? He seems possible--had that one great year, bounced all around the INF and OF, without ever finding a settled spot.

So, was it Kevin?

To answer my own question.... Nope! I just looked Kevin up. He actually WON the MVP in his great year, and only makes the cut in terms of games at 3B.

The hard part is finding a guy who has enough glove to play a fair bit of SS but also enough bat to play a fair bit of 1B--and also to hit the stops in between at 2b & 3b.

My guess is the Gil McDougald would easily make it at 2b, 3b & SS but wouldn't have many games, if any, at 1b.
