NEW THEME-Pitching is Back! WE ARE FULL-THANKS!

PostThu Aug 21, 2014 3:58 pm

Would anyone be up for a pitching theme? I was thinking of limiting the hitters. I competed in a league like this a couple of times a while back. I think Valen created the leagues and it was something like 80M and hitters limited to 5M. I was thinking maybe limiting the hitters to say 3 million or 4 million apiece. Anyhow please chime in and throw out some ideas.

I think I was in that league with you. It was a 100M Cap, and no hitters over $5 million.

The league average ERA was 2.79, with the league leader at 2.33 and the highest ERA was 3.58. Eight of the twelve teams had ERA's under 3.00. Five pitchers had ERA's under 2.0. Bob Gibson had 19 complete games and 11 shutouts.

I don't think we allowed stadiums with HR ratings over 10.

I could have sworn I was in another league involving limits on hitters but this the only one I found. It was a 100 million with a 6 million dollar hitter limit.

Do you remember the name of the league?

It was " A Call to Arms", but maybe a couple similar leagues were running at the time if people liked the theme, and couldn't get in the first version:

The League you posted was ATG VI, this league was ATG VII

I'd definitely be up for another one of these type leagues, I was in both of those leagues...didn't do so well though. If you go with 100m, 5m limit on hitters should be enough to assure somewhat realistic pitching stats. I think if you decide 80m, 3m limit on hitters should assure GREAT pitching performances, 4m limit should balance out to fairly real life pitching performances, especially if you limit ballparks to single didgits.

i like the 100 mil/6 mil gives you more options for great defense players which helps the pitchers? thoughts

IMO, the higher the cap, and the higher the limit on hitters, the more "normal" the teams will look.

I'd rather see a hitter limit low enough to bring out cards not usually in play.
