Catcher injuries

What happens if both catchers get injured? Does the position get filled by anyone else at the regular defensive penalties?

Although both catchers can be injured in the same game, then a position player takes over...

But it's true if 1 catcher gets injured your backup (assuming you only have 1 other player rated @ catcher) won't get injured starting the following game for however long the injury is for.

I always believed that the 2nd catcher could not get injured (assuming there were no others on the roster), but then had this happen:

http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/game/playbyplay/423795/758

My team has two catchers-- a platoon of Frank Duncan and Jim Sundberg. Sundberg started the game. In the top of the 7th, HAL did a double-switch so Duncan would lead off the next inning -- and he got plunked and injured for 7 games, with my backup shortstop, Craig Reynolds, filling in behind the plate.

Oddly enough, in another game that season, HAL put in Reynolds behind the plate without an injury - and he threw out Ichiro stealing in the 9th inning of a tight game!

Actually, one of the ways in which a non-catcher could and would be put into a game is if you play your second catcher at another position (DH, 1b, etc.) and HE gets injured.

Your other catcher can now be injured.

True happiness can only be attained by clinching your division early and playing your backup catcher at his regular position every remaining regular season game in an effort to get him injured.

Instead of the boxscore you should post your team roster. I am betting that you have 2 players with catcher as their primary position but also have some other player who is not normally a catcher but has catcher on the card.

For example in ATG having Boudreau as your shortstop can make your catchers vulnerable because he has catcher listed on the card. Same for one of the Frank Chance cards. You want to be careful about having position players with catcher listed. Even if that is like their 4th position they still count as your last catcher and make every other catcher on your team vulnerable to injury.
