Ratings Guide Curse

I knew you couldn't dispute my arguments. You know that, too; that's why you keep avoiding doing so. I never said your not doing so "proved I was right." It sure shows, though, that you can't show I'm wrong...and your frustration is palpable.

So, Let me repeat myself.

1. 1 and 2 are circular as you erroneously present them.

2. Unfortunately for you, my rational supported arguments were not just 1 and 2. I'd say try again, but we both know you can't.

3. I don't know what "3" is. However, none of my arguments were just "opinion." Your erroneously saying so doesn't change that.

Also, I didn't pontificate once; fancy word, though. If you think I did, show how. Considering you haven't directly addressed or disputed any of my arguments yet, I won't hold my breath.

It looks like we're done here, C. I successfully made and supported all of my arguments this forum thread. You have failed to dispute or even adequately address any of them. I'm fine with leaving it at that. Considering you're down to eye-rolls as your best argument, I suggest you do so, too...

The tread this quote came from got locked by Strat, probably because of personal attacks and abusive replies, therefore over.

What did the losing pitcher yell at David Ortiz as he circled the bases with a homerun?

a) "You're still not a complete player!"

b) "This does not change my opinion about Nick Punto being more complete than you!

c) "Hey Big Papi, you're still stuck in the American League!"

d) All of the above, thereby causing a mound charge and brawl.

e) He remained silent, thinking about how he might do better next time.

This is a forum for discussion, little guy, not a place for you to pursue your dark obsession with me. Since you only ramble about me, and say nothing about the thread topic, you are the only one making things "personal"...and it's creepy.

I do sympathize with you, though, BJ. As I've said before, I recognize my appeal. So, I'm going to give you these pointers:

1. Debating and/or disagreeing with someone does not denote "not dealing with someone having a different opinion." They are entirely different things. I was debating my interlocutors. If you think I was doing the latter, then show me and the forum how I was. Maybe you can actually make an argument this time.

2. Re-posting arguments one's interlocutor keeps avoiding addressing is basic forensic strategy. When someone evades or avoids your salient point, you give it to them again. I'm not surprised that eludes you.

As to this "promise" I supposedly made that is haunting you, I will address it in another forum thread where it is relevant. If you start a forum thread called "Keeper League Rules" I will do so there. Now show some courtesy to this forum thread and let it resolve...and move on.

I only play ATG, but I've started coming over here to follow l.strether's weekly meltdowns. I haven't enjoyed anyone's posts as much since Grindi was banned from ATG.

l., presumably you include the use of Diamond Dope as eliminating one from being a "complete Strat player" - whatever that means. I find that ironic since they only top ATG player I know of who eschews using DD is Nevdully's - and you and he have had a stormy relationship, shall we say.

I characterize using Diamond Dope as "using the tools at hand," rather than not being a "complete Strat player." It's somewhat silly to add up 4,480 cards by hand rather than using a program to do this work. Player evaluation, or determining whether to use the better hitter or better fielder at a given cap, is still required.

Hopefully this will generate a response with a quote(s) and many bold words. You're not anybody in this community until you've been strether-ed.

My only fascination with you,l., is that I have never met a person that goes so far out of their way to be disliked. Most people are courteous and respectful to each other. So either your goal is to be as annoying and disliked as possible or you are just clueless when it comes to class and respect.

Back on this topic, I personally, have never seen one of these ratings guides put out by SOM and others. I do admire you for admitting you are less of a manager than I and others because of these ratings guides you speak of. For your strong opinion on the matter, you must have read and evaluated these guides, otherwise your evaluation on this subject would be meaningless.

If I did (as you say), then you should have no problem finding a post where I did. If you can't find one, and I know you can't, then I expect a deserved apology. My posts on this thread have been particularly cogent and composed. I'm proud of and stand by every one of them.

I made it perfectly clear what a "complete" strat player is, whether you agree with it or not. And I adore Neve. Who doesn't adore their sources of constant amusement?

Apparently, you have some misguided problem with "quotes" and bold type. You have my sympathies. Quotes give useful ancillary--go look that one up--information, and bold type adds spoken emphasis to the written phrase. I'm hardly shocked you didn't know that.

As to your final comment, I'm sorry you care about being somebody in this (see, emphasis) community. This is a forum of people on the net. It is not the sphere of family, friends, and colleagues...the one I actually care about. As to "Strethered,' I have no idea what that means. However, if it appropriately means having your arguments debunked, deconstructed, and taunted, then you have just been majorly "Strethered."...

BJ, you just made another post to me and made another unfounded personal attack on me. Thank you for further confirming your creepy obsession. You seem to miss that the reason of your obsession is irrelevant. What makes it an obsession is your need to keep expressing it to me...again...and again...and again. You, yourself, claim that others dislike me. However you are the only one who keeps following me around to repeatedly tell me about it...and that is very creepy.

As to your "argument," you make me wish you went back to never making them. Apparently, you think you need to read a text to know what it does, and that is sad. I've read JTJ's description of his guides and read others' descriptions of the other ratings guides. If they were lying, I will amend, if not recant posts. We both know I won't need to do that.

So, start that Keeper League thread if you want me to answer that question that is obviously important to you. You do so, and I will answer it. You write another stalker post on this thread, and I never will. So, run along now BJ and give your enthrallment with me a respite. Even I don't think about myself as much as you do...

I haven't come across such a pompous bag of hot air in close to 30 years.
