Was Harmon Killebrew really only 17 when he first appeared in the Major Leagues? I discovered this while trying to figure out AndyCummings65 trivia question. Who else was that young when they first appeared in the Major Leagues?

If you ever go to Target Field in Minnesota they have Killebrew's first contract on display. His father signed below his signature because he was not yet 18.

Something that is worth watching on you tube is Mudcat Grant singing "What A Wonderful World," at Killebrew's funeral service at Target Field.

Actually Joe Nuxhall was 15. Mel Ott was 16 when he was signed in January 1926 but had just barely turned 17 when he made his ML debut in April 1926.

Former Major League catcher/outfielder/first baseman Ed Kirkpatrick made his ML debut at 17 and had a 15 year Major League career and was done at The ripe old age of 32.

Thanks for the heads-up. It is a really remarkable rendition.
