Tim Raines did a pretty good Ty Cobb imitation-.372/133/26/128/114

SWEET! I love that team of yours! John Stearns... I can't believe I forgot about him. My Dad and I used to play tabletop and Stearns was my catcher on the 80's team I fielded in a 6 team league (just my Dad & I) we had stocked using the old Hall of Fame cards, some select Old Timers teams, plus the best of our 80's cards.

Great memories.

I've always liked Raines. I'd still like to see him get a HoF nod someday. Yes he deserves it.

I just had a player get 122 SB and was curious if that's been done yet.

Jarrod Dyson 122 out of 150 attempts

Didn't they induct Tim Raines into the Hall of Fame a couple of years ago??

Nope; still no love for the Rock. I'm clueless to why the voters think Raines is unworthy. He is arguably the second greatest lead-off man of the modern era. He's fifth in all-time stolen bases and has a fantastic career batting line. He didn't hit a lot of homers, but he did hit with power, and home runs aren't a prerequisite for lead-off success.

I hope some voters wise up and induct him soon. As of now, he, Biggio, and Kent are the best eligible non-roided players yet to be inducted. However, with Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, and John Smoltz becoming eligible next year, those three might have to wait a bit longer.

Who is ahead of Raines on the all time stolen base list. I am thinking Ty Cobb, Lou Brock and Rickey Henderson are the top three. Is Kenny Lofton in the top five or ten? ... Thanks!

There was actually another player named Billy Hamilton who (mostly) played in the 19th century. Apparently he's been reincarnated and now occupies a Cincinatti Reds uniform. If his new incarnation learns how to reach base more, he, too could reach the all-time top ten.

Baseball just loves its little ironies.

2014 Billy Hamilton has a ton of work to do, however. His K/BB ratio this year is an abysmal 111/30--certainly not good enough to be a long term leadoff hitter unless he hits over .300, which doesn't seem likely. He's also pretty old for (23) a speedster rookie and got caught stealing a ton this year. No where near Tim Raines territory who absolutely should be in the Hall.

On a more strat related note. I got 51 steals in 62 attempts out of Rajai Davis (2013) playing as a platoon player (about 350 ABs):

He hit really well too, facing mostly lefties.

Why are three teams deleted from this league?
