"Underrated" is a relative term. Do we mean underrated by the average fan, underrated by the media or underrated by baseball fanatics like SOM players? When I think of the term "underrated" I think of someone who might be often overlooked by the casual to knowledgeable fans.

The term does have relativeness, as it neither specifies what qualities should actually be rated nor what underrated actually means. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I was particularly referring to "underrated" as by the baseball media and relatively well-informed baseball fans, with well-informed SOM players included.

For me, "underrated" can mean players who have performed particularly well for years without much recognition from the baseball media or baseball fans. Players such as Todd Frazier, Ben Zobrist, and Alexei Ramirez could meet this standard. Keyzick advocated this definition of "underrated" in his post.

Another meaning I apply to "underrated," which may better apply to "unheralded" are those newly arriving players who are just making their mark under the national radar. Marcell Ozuna, Tanner Roark, Wade Davis, and Jake McGee would all meet this definition. As I said before, you or anyone else are free to add to or amend this; it is a definition in progress.

I think that's a good demarcation - unheralded v underrated. I agree the guys you listed as unheralded seem to fit the tag...of course, a few years of being unheralded can lead to being underrated. Yes, I definitely like that method of categorizing them.

I think unheralded is basically symptomatic of region. I.E. - Cashner and Ross would be unheralded and underrated on the east coast much more than on the west coast.

Greatest TV Shows....This implies a wider audience base moreso than if it were merely "favorite" TV shows. OR are you asking us which shows do we think are the greatest without regard to ratings popularity, critical acclaim, and so forth (which pretty much brings us into "favorite" territory)?

Its hard for us we know all the players,
how about underrated SOM players. I have found guys like Galvis and Barnes are underrated for value to a team.

Galvis' card can be a stud. He did very well for me in the 2012 mlb season/2013 SOM set.

in the mystery card game you can get very low salaried players contributing as much or more than the stars. I have Gregg Zaun in the best of 90's right now in one of my teams and he's valued at 1.25 mil but he's giving me 7 mil production...

Here's another guy I try to get in best of 90's leagues where I play in a hitter's park (he's only .800 mil)...
