Disabling Discussion Board account

Does anyone know how to disable your discussion board account while keeping access to the Online game?

You can prevent emails/private messages being sent to you but think the only way to dissolve the account would be to request strat to do that. It would be our loss if you left.

I'm with you Robert. I don't feel the need to disable my forum account but this will likely be my last post. As long as Strat allows the more immature posters to call people things like "little man" and "chum" and other unnecessary personal attacks, I feel this forum is no longer for responsible adults that are here for the fun of the banter and discussions. At the old site, the forum was very entertaining and fun and led to more teams created. It has now become a negative aspect of this on line game, leading to less teams created.
The main draw to the forum at the old site was when Bernie joined in. Now, we have to wait a week and can only hope our interests are addressed. The old forum was more "anything goes" but most of the venom was directed at Strat. The old site didn't have some know it all, that rarely actually puts a team in a league, come along and try to explain the impossible. Who ever would have thought someone would be so naive and arrogant to think that they could tell someone they have a wrong opinion? Then when that fails, resort to personal attacks.

I seem to remember people being called a lot worse than "little man" and "chum" on the old TSN boards.
You might be able to say the boards are more boring or less interesting now but to say the old boards were more polite is probably pretty good evidence of failing memory.

But I 100% agree communication from TSN to the boards was much more frequent on the old boards than the non-communication of the current boards.

As to deleting your forum account I do not understand why you would need to do that. Just do not log in and post. If you are not talking to anyone nobody is going to talk back. And that basically amounts to the same thing as disabled.

Editing: Almost forgot to say. Agree with Mr Baseball World you would be missed.

Thanks, I've changed all of the settings to block PMs, pulled my personal info off of my profile. Will be taking a break from the boards for a while by not logging into them.

I've grown weary of treatment dished out by an individual, both on the board and in PMs. Requests to SOM to deal with it have been ignored. SOM is my escape from the day to day pressures of life. Wading into a negative environment where respectful discussions are railroaded by an individual looking to do nothing but antagonize and prove how "intelligent" he is really detracts from a lot of great participation from the SOM Online community.

Many of you have my personal contact info so you can find me for theme leagues using that info. Yountfan, TCochran, Mr Baseball World, SPhillippe, GGrover, PWootten, MrKite, AllStarInc, GMac, FAaron, PLong (to name a few) all are in Keeper leagues with me either here or in ones I host, so they can get you in touch with me if needed.

I have 13 teams to finish that are active and a handful of keeper commitments that I of course look forward to keeping.

Enjoy the playoffs everyone and see you down the road :-)

Mr. Latorre, since your last exchange today was with me, I assume you are talking about me. I have no idea what you mean by "treatment" dished out to you, but this was our exchange today, in which I was completely polite:
ROBERTLATORRE wrote:Derek Jeter = Tom Brady

Same thing, different town, different sport. Brady is no Peyton, Marino, or Johnny U, but ask any Patriots fan and he is god.

l.strether wrote:Derek Jeter does not equal Tom Brady. Tom Brady is not overrated.

Brady may or may not be Peyton. There are arguments for both. Peyton does read defenses better, but Brady's playoff performances and record have been far superior. However, Brady has not been "inferior" to Marino or Johnny u. Here are their respective lines:

Passer----Record------TD-----Int------Td/Int-------Rat.-------Comp Pct.------Yds/game------SBs/champs
Brady -----150-45-0----363 ---136 ----2.67---------95.4 ---------63.3%------------253.5------------3 SBs
Marino 147-93-0 ----420-----252-----1.67----------86.4---------59.4% -----------253.6------------0
Unitas 118-64-4-----290-----253----1.15----------78.2---------54.6%------------190.7-----------3 Chmps

As you can see, Brady's stats were far superior to Marino's, and he won 3 SBs to Marino's 0. So, unless qbs are measured solely by release speed, Brady has been a superior qb to Marino. Because of the different eras, the comparison between Brady and Unitas is not as extreme. However, Unitas threw a lot of interceptions for a non-passing era and his comp. pct was mediocre compared to Brady's excellent one. So, Brady has been the superior passer.

ROBERTLATORRE wrote:Unitas, Marino and Peyton DEFINED the position in their eras, Brady executed in a superior system in a passing friendly era.

My last comment on the subject no matter how much you parse it.

l.strether wrote:Whether or not they "DEFINED" their position in their eras (as you say) is irrelevant. Brady was a superior passer to Marino and Unitas...and a superior quarterback as well.

Considering your present comment, and your avoiding addressing statistical facts, it's probably best you don't comment further.

As you, and everyone, can see, this was a polite exchange with no "mistreatment" from either side. Yes, there was disagreement, but discussion and disagreement about sports matters is part of the forum's purpose. But, as Valen noted, people write a lot rougher stuff on these boards than the polite exchange above.

As to your other accusations, they are unfounded. If you or anybody else can show a post where I just posted to "antagonize," "show how Intelligent I am," or "railroad," then I will retract that post and apologize to whom I wronged. Until then I will continue to post as I have done. Go check out my Greatest list threads; there are no conflicts there. So, if you have a specific complaint about the above exchange, or any exchange we have had, please express it to me instead of writing about me.

If you weren't writing about me, and the "individual" you mentioned was someone else, then disregard my post and go in peace.

OK It is my turn. I mostly go on the chat site without login on.

I have 3 Keeper Leagues going and it is all I will play anymore. The guy running these Leagues is the best ever and if he gives them up so will I. (don't feel any pressure here as I play because you run them and the guys in them.) I have made a commitment to him and the players in those Leagues and will continue to as long as I can.

It was the Vets that sent me packing and I wont play anything else but the 3 Keeper Leagues I am in. I have said this before I and I will say this again "If you don't know why this site can grow just look in the mirror."

A new guy has hit the seen and is running his mouth just like the Vets have done and the old guard doesn't like it. He would run me off but that has already been done. Look in the mirror. The people that piss you off the most remind you of you. You just don't see it ask your wife and she will tell you that he reminds her of you.

"I seem to remember people being called a lot worse than "little man" and "chum" on the old TSN boards

I have been called much worse and wont take it from anyone here as this has become as bad as where I work and I sure as he ll wont pay money to take the s h it I have taken on this site.

This has nothing to do with Frank as I love Frank almost as much as my boyfriend

Sorry I forgot to mention I played my first season in 2004.

LOL. The boards are more boring and less helpful today, but they are indeed much more polite (which might contribute to the "boring").

Does the forum have a "block" feature? I seem to remember it did (or was that from the TSN days)?

Yes. There is a Friends & Foes tab on your User Control Panel. Strangely, making someone a "foe" does not block PMs from them.
