Comments like this is why I will never debate this person. It may be "polite," but it's still abusive.

It's also interesting that the OP never mentioned anyone by name nor gave any hint who it might be. Yet, "someone" felt the need to jump in and defend himself.

I'm sure "someone" will flame me for this post (or maybe not just to prove that I'm "wrong"), and he can have the last word.

Yes. There is a Friends & Foes tab on your User Control Panel. Strangely, making someone a "foe" does not block PMs from them.

No, my above comment was not abusive; it was merely direct. Abusive means "extremely offensive and insulting." That does not apply to my comment at all. I'm being direct here; try to know the meanings of derogatory words before throwing them at people or their statements. And, I hope to never debate you either. You, yourself, make rude statements such as:

"Anyway, feel free to pontificate further. But please spare me more of the lame "if you don't respond it proves I'm right" argument."

So, you're quite the hypocrite whom I have no interest in engaging.
It's also interesting that the OP never mentioned anyone by name nor gave any hint who it might be. Yet, "someone" felt the need to jump in and defend himself.

Um, he gave quite a few hints to whom it might be, particularly to me, who had the most recent debate exchange with him. That's why I posted this; you apparently missed it:

"Mr. Latorre, since your last exchange today was with me, I assume you are talking about me. I have no idea what you mean by "treatment" dished out to you, but this was our exchange today, in which I was completely polite."

I also told him to disregard the post if i was not the individual of whom he spoke. So, let's let him respond on the matter before making a fuss of my presuming he was. So, to finish this "last word" you've given me I will post some previous posts to show you what abusive posts actually look like, and to show a previous poster that vets (not newbies) have often made venomous personal attacks on other posters. And they are far worse than any of my posts, including the one cited above.:

geekor wrote:who asked your opinion, and I can voice my opinion? Are you 12 or retarded? WE can ALL voice our opinions, Jerlins included. Some serious tough talk for someone who was never part of the community as a whole and his first post. I'm sure your e-penis is huge, you don't have to act so big. If only strat fixed their shit and had the manger ratings then we could see how terrible you really are.

And what Jerlins said was correct, which is why Strat re-ran the game right away. No ones lineups were set correctly, winning when everything was messed up and losing when they are fixed just shows.... you should fix your lineups to begin with.

At one time I too thought so but having played it a lot now, I actually have an informed opinion, unlike him. Of course, even if one were to believe the crapshoot drivel, one could still use diamond dope for a 200M draft. But realistically, nah, Moose just does what he wants with Barnstormers.

The board is respected?? Really?? I don't think there is a lot of love for the board from the most experienced and successful managers. Nev and I both stopped playing Barnstormers explicitly because of how the tour is run by his Mightiness. Moose is an autocratic, abrasive, pompous jerk not to mention entirely clueless about strat. I won't even comment on Mr. BBW or Schimpf other than to say I respect Kriff more than those two.

Andy Cummings and Bruce Foster are respectable folks and good managers as well To me it is unfortunate that they lend their aura of respectability to an otherwise toxic board and deeply flawed enterprise.

These personal attack posts are all offensive and abusive. They are worse than anything I have written. They are certainly more offensive than my phrase you erroneously claim to be abusive. Nobody--including you and others on this thread--complained about these posts. So, you, and others, should stop errantly grousing about mine.

Badjam wrote:I'm with you Robert. I don't feel the need to disable my forum account but this will likely be my last post. As long as Strat allows the more immature posters to call people things like "little man" and "chum" and other unnecessary personal attacks.
The main draw to the forum at the old site was when Bernie joined in. Now, we have to wait a week and can only hope our interests are addressed. The old forum was more "anything goes" but most of the venom was directed at Strat. The old site didn't have some know it all, that rarely actually puts a team in a league, come along and try to explain the impossible. Who ever would have thought someone would be so naive and arrogant to think that they could tell someone they have a wrong opinion? Then when that fails, resort to personal attacks.

BJ, I came back to this thread, and saw you re-edited your post--after I and others had posted--and said you were leaving the forum. So, I thought I'd respond to your "final" post; I couldn't miss my chance to say "goodbye" to the guy who has followed me around the boards.

First of all, I have to agree with Valen and Chase that posters have called other posters much worse things than "little man" and "chum." If those phrases upset you, you' may be too sensitive for the boards. As I showed in my previous post, three posters (among others) whom you know well called other posters worse things and said worse things to them. So your "outrage" about board abuse is clearly selective and not particularly sincere.

As to this mysterious poster who haunts you, your complaints about him are vague and unclear. First of all, "know-it-all" implies the poster did not know what he was talking about when he posted. It does not mean someone who speaks emphatically with confidence in their knowledge. So, if you come back, please show some posts where this "know-it-all" posted on a subject where he knew nothing or was clearly wrong. I would be intrigued to see them.

Also, many posters (including yourself) tell others they're "wrong" on the forum everyday, particularly in ATG where you have many friends. If that makes someone "naïve and arrogant," then the forum is loaded with naïve and arrogant people. And, when did this poster attempt to "explain the impossible"? Was he discussing Medieval Theology? Please share an example. It sounds both metaphysical and fascinating.

Finally, since this poster haunting you sounds intriguing, I'm a bit disappointed he can't be me. First of all, your guy "rarely actually puts a team in a league." I, myself, am always playing 7 or more leagues at a time. I had gotten to ten last year, but was chided by my wife for it and returned to 7. Secondly, my arguments never "fail," and I never initiate personal attacks. So, I am excluded from being your nemesis again.

So, as I told Latorre, go in peace, BJ.

Very bazaar, l.stretcher. Until I just mentioned your name now, this entire topic did not say in any way it was about you. However, something stated in this topic must have hit on how you view yourself for you to go into almost an entire page of a rambling, defensive rant. You even had to reply twice in a row (I don't see any edits after your first reply) making this topic about you. You really don't have to make yourself the topic all of the time. People need not look any farther than the above two rambling defensive posts to see why many of the over ten year vets that have been through everything, have now grown tired and fed up with the downward spiral some trolls are bringing this forum.

First of all, BJ, welcome back. I knew you hadn't made your "last" post. Secondly, I think the word you were looking for was "bizarre," not "bazaar." Nothing is being sold on this thread... ;)
However, something stated in this topic must have hit on how you view yourself for you to go into almost an entire page of a rambling, defensive rant. You even had to reply twice in a row (I don't see any edits after your first reply) making this topic about you.

I don't know of what "rambling, defensive rant" you speak. I didn't write any. And I didn't respond to anything "twice in a row," either. I already well-explained my logical response to LaTorre. You clearly didn't read that very well. If you think I was wrong, PM LaTorre. He hasn't corrected me yet.

As to my cogent, well organized (and tender) goodbye to you, I never said you were talking about me; I even said I wish you were. So, your erroneous "defensive" claim shows you read my post very poorly. You also didn't explain how my two coherent posts were "rambles" or "rants." If they were, show me how. We both know you can't. I shudder to think what grammatical correction looks like from someone who actually confuses "bizarre" and "bazaar"

Finally, BJ, the only person who "makes me the topic all the time" is you. You came on the "Is Collusion OK" and "Ratings Guide Rules" threads to initially talk about me, not the thread topic. That makes you a part-time troll, and a bit of a stalker. So, you are part of the problem of which you speak. Also, as Chase noted, many of the vets, themselves, are posting hostile troll posts. I--a 12-year vet myself--re-posted three abusive posts from the vets Druid, Dougelke, and Geekor, which lengthened my post. Your not saying anything about them discredits your false sanctimony.

So, I look forward to hearing more about this rapscallion haunting you. Your post confirms he isn't me, but he does sound intriguing... ;)

Actually, I can, and will say this is my only post on this subject...

I agree with all but one person (pretty much) on this thread. One person, is like my ex wife, and needs to have the last word, in every discussion. No matter the subject. And they will not stop until we say fine, you're correct.

It's tiresome.

Not enjoyable at all.

There have been times, where I wanted to enter in some discussions, but refrained, because it just wouldn't be fun being proven wrong (in one's eyes).

Sometime, one cannot see how damaging they are to community.

That is all. Have a good day.

Oh, yeah, I have been here since the inception on TSN. My first league was TSN10032 (the first 25-ish, were beta leagues). So I really have seen and heard it all. Literally.

I have been here since the inception of TSN as well. I, too have seen it all. Since I had the last word you decry, I will respond to your post. My ex-wife used to also coyly refer to people without naming them as men usually do. Apparently many posters on this thread have this problem and are somehow fearful to do so.

If you weren't talking to me, I will make a crucial note. Defending oneself against another's erroneous allegations is not "having the last word." It's defending oneself against erroneous allegations. If people can't or shouldn't do that on the forum, then we should shut the forum down.

Also, referring to somebody as "damaging" to the community without foundation is slanderous. To do so without naming the poster is cowardly. A vet with your avowed experience should show more integrity and class. If this poster is so damaging, then show a post where he was. Otherwise you are engaging in gossip damaging to the community.

Now, I will re-post the three posts I posted earlier which are harmful to the community:

Geekor made an abusive personal attack on a newbie here. This is harmful to the community.
geekor wrote:who asked your opinion, and I can voice my opinion? Are you 12 or retarded? WE can ALL voice our opinions, Jerlins included. This is an abusive personal attack on an ATG commissioner...very damaging to the community.

So, try to focus on what is truly damaging to the community...Micheal. Your (and other vets') lack of concern over posts like these, but indirect concern over an anonymous poster whose posts you can't even identify is very damaging. That is the real problem in the community.
