The main draw to the forum at the old site was when Bernie joined in. Now, we have to wait a week and can only hope our interests are addressed. The old forum was more "anything goes" but most of the venom was directed at Strat. The old site didn't have some know it all, that rarely actually puts a team in a league, come along and try to explain the impossible. Who ever would have thought someone would be so naive and arrogant to think that they could tell someone they have a wrong opinion? Then when that fails, resort to personal attacks.
BJ, I came back to this thread, and saw you re-edited your post--after I and others had posted--and said you were leaving the forum. So, I thought I'd respond to your "final" post; I couldn't miss my chance to say "goodbye" to the guy who has followed me around the boards.
First of all, I have to agree with Valen and Chase that posters have called other posters
much worse things than "little man" and "chum." If those phrases upset you, you' may be too sensitive for the boards. As I showed in my previous post, three posters (among others) whom you know well called other posters worse things and said worse things to them. So your "outrage" about board abuse is clearly selective and not particularly sincere.
As to this mysterious poster who haunts you, your complaints about him are vague and unclear. First of all, "know-it-all" implies the poster did not know what he was talking about when he posted. It does
not mean someone who speaks emphatically with confidence in their knowledge. So, if you come back, please show some posts where this "know-it-all" posted on a subject where he knew nothing or was clearly wrong. I would be intrigued to see them.
Also,
many posters (including yourself) tell others they're "wrong" on the forum everyday, particularly in ATG where you have many friends. If that makes someone "naïve and arrogant," then the forum is
loaded with naïve and arrogant people. And, when did this poster attempt to "explain the impossible"? Was he discussing Medieval Theology? Please share an example. It sounds both metaphysical and fascinating.
Finally, since this poster haunting you sounds intriguing, I'm a bit disappointed he can't be me. First of all, your guy "rarely actually puts a team in a league."
I, myself, am always playing 7 or more leagues at a time. I
had gotten to ten last year, but was chided by my wife for it and returned to 7. Secondly, my arguments never "fail," and I
never initiate personal attacks. So, I am excluded from being your nemesis again.
So, as I told Latorre, go in peace, BJ.
