My question is that any player can be selected in the "WC" round, but does it have to be a player that has not played for any eligible franchise? Like lets use Babe Ruth as an example. Lets say that the Braves were eligible. Would the Babe be off limits because there is a franchise that he played for? Like Greg Maddux - no Braves, no Cubs, No Dodgers - alas but he played for SD. If that combo is picked does that remove him from WC consideration?

That's the way I'm interpreting it. The only wild card eligible are NEL players and players that never played for any of the selected franchises. But let the Dr. confirm or deny that. But I guess another follow up question to that would be if you could change out your wild card selection(s) during the free agency period or any time during the season?

I agree with Musial on his interpretation. As that is how I understand it. But will defer to the good Doctors decision.

As for the wild card, I believe we would be able to switch selections post-draft provided we stick to the restrictions outlined; at least that's how it is in the other leagues, I recall. This is another decision for Vinnie in the commissioner's office.

In this case Babe is a free agent since he has no allegiance to any team...same as Josh Gibson...Teddy Ballgame etc. as long as a player has never played for franchises selected he is eligible as a wild card. Now if Padres are not picked then Maddux becomes a wild card.
