Well, we finally played a game more resembling baseball tonight and the SOM gods smiled on us.
Crisp hit 2 HR, Venable hit a 2 run shot and Wainwright got us to 7th with a shutout. However, Wainwright left with the bases juiced and one out. Jansen got a DP from Gomez to end the 7th, but struggled again, loading the bases with 2 out in the 8th. Farquhar came on to whiff Carp (not sure why Avilan wasn't used) to end that threat.
Farquhar gave up a leadoff single and a balk to Beltre, but k'd Gomez and Byrd to finish off the game.
Stoney, I think we just had better timing on our hits in this series. I mean, your slash line was .326 .356 .508 where ours was .266 .338 .495 We did hit three more HRs (which mattered in this last game), but we were even through the first four games. We're very happy not to have to see Fernandez in game 6! I'm not sure we're a better team, but I do know we had better timing than you did in this series. Just the luck of the dice with two teams that were 6-6 against each during the regular season
Lucky to get by Stoney, hoping our luck will continue like the Giant's has so far this postseason. We're going to need it against Big A we were only 10-14, 5-7 in both parks so it's not like our park made much of a difference against Big A!
