Is there a way to get HAL to PH for Hechavarria???

PostWed Nov 05, 2014 10:17 pm

Got A. Hechavarria and his excellent glove at SS, and picked up B Ryan as a backup. Figured I'd PH for Hechavarria late, then get another excellent glove at short to finish the game. But it never happens. NEVER. I've got Hechavarria to avoid both lefty and righty pitchers, then when he always kept hitting, I changed it to only avoid RH bats, but it still didn't matter. The most maddening recent development: 9th inning, tying run on second and a guy with a .350+ OBA on the bench, Hechavarria hits and pops out.

WHY HAL??? WHYYYYYYYYYY????

NO. the avoid option only applies to bench players. This has been discussed recently over a few threads. One of the biggest oversights in the online game is a "ph for" option (in late game situations).

Thank you! Not the answer I wanted, but good to have a clear understanding of what's (not) going on.

post a link to your team, I'm curious if your PH's are 'compelling' enough for HAL to use. Sounds like they are but be interesting to see.

I almost never use the don't ph for option. What if you checked everyone but Hechavarria?

I've tried it with Escobar couldn't get HAL to PH. I had Greogoriuos on bench and good PH's

Thanks. I cannot understand why there is a "don't ph for" option instead of a "ph for option" Makes no sense at all.

Here is a game where Cano (8R) pinch hit for Pena (2L), but he never PH for his platoon (McDonald).

I think it needs to be a very unbalanced situation for the hitter.

With both Hechavarria and Ryan being E hitters, Hal would never PH for either I don't think.

I've wondered if HAL would be more liberal about pinch hitting with a larger roster. I've never tested this idea, however.

Here's my team:

Big roster, Ramos or Dickerson would be great vs. RH pitching.
