Looking for team critique

PostSun Nov 23, 2014 2:37 pm

Hi all,

This is a limited player pool theme league, and I would like someone else's thoughts.
http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/team/1389670

playing in Sportsman's '41 (7,7,20,6)
current lineup -
D. Evans 3.30 3b
C.Delgado 9.49 1b
Bonds 14.54 LF
Ruth 13.07 RF
Mercer 8.61 CF
Schoendienst 4.32 2b
Templeton 2.42 ss
Catcher platoon Ruel .76/Smith 1.07
Pitcher

Rotation -
Wood 9.69. Combs 8.9, Tannehill 6.5, Richard 5.98

My division has Royals 78 (14,14,3,3), Minute Maid (3,11,3,16), Connie Mack(12,1,1,8) and 25% LHP.

I'd appreciate any criticisms or comments.
Thanks

Hard lefties will pose you serious problems, you have no defense to that strategy based on your current roster.

Thanks for looking Petro.

I swapped Turkey Stearnes (CF) and Roger Maris (RF) in to replace Delgado (1b) and Mercer (CF) then moved 13.07 Ruth for 13.03 Ruth (moved from RF to 1b).

Not so sure it was enormously helpful, but Turkey at least should shine against the lefties.

What about one high OBP (walks a lot, low HRs) right handed batter?

Otherwise, looks good to me.

Perhaps you could downgrade your #4 starter a bit and turn him into a lefty to take more advantage of your park, then find one of those high OBP cheap RH platoon hitter to match up with either Evans or Maris. Or, even more radically, downgrade your 4th starter to a lower end lefty but pick up a cheap hard righty SP to match up with the Minute Maid team and still have a little cash for an Evans platoon mate.

I basically agree with The Last Druid

this is a similar idea team of mine that is doing well:

my hitters are facing around 40% lefties... some rh bats, not necessarily lefty klllers though, would help.

Patrick, Thanks.
Your team looks very good at 29 games over .500, although it doesn't look like your 2 RH bats are contributing as much as the lefties. The bullpen looks pretty darn good as well.

don't dis the Tobster (Harrah) high obp w/ some pop and 1st-to-3rd speed ("I pay you to get on 1st, not get thrown out @ 2nd" - Billy Bean in Moneyball) not the greatest glove at third, I agree,

Disrespect? Never!
Toby's 121 runs is fantabulous and the team is mondo. Grich's OBP is also pretty impressive for a RH bat on a LH team.

I was certainly being way too critical in my prior comments.
Hope you had a great Turkey day.
