I will write the way I want, like it or not, you are not the administrator of these boards. This is a SOM fantasy baseball board the last time I checked. Intensity? just stating facts, unlike the Ferguson quote, that has no place on these boards, no place here for racist statements. Say that in the wrong place and you may have trouble on your hands, pretty easy to type that on a keyboard, go say that in public and see how people respond to a sensitive subject.

Ease up on the drama a little; I never told you how to write. I made a friendly suggestion for you to lighten the intensity. Keeping the tone light and less intense just makes the discussion more enjoyable. I mistakenly thought you would agree. Using exclamation points as you did does heighten and elevate the intensity of your words. If you want to avoid the intensity you showed, avoid using them. Making ridiculously false claims about "racist statements" doesn't help either. I made an appropriate Ferguson analogy that obviously went over your head. So don't get fretful and start talking about "trouble on one's hands."
Bottom line is that you need to read my posts better, I never stated that you would take Laroche over Ortiz, I stated "Laroche is not in the same league as Ortiz is as a DH".

I read your posts just fine, and you absolutely said I would take Laroche over Ortiz. Here's your quote:
lakeviewdave wrote:I will take Ortiz all day over Laroche at 2/$25m, perhaps your are kidding yourself with your comparison of Laroche vs Ortiz.

See, you erroneously said I was "kidding myself" with a comparison between Laroche and Ortiz I never actually made. That is telling me I would take Laroche over Ortiz. Apparently you have difficulties reading your own posts as well.

Getting Laroche "at a good price", as compared to what? V.Mart? I do not know what V.Mart is getting in first 2 years of deal but if we assume he is getting half of the 4/68M then 2/34 would be comparable to Laroche's 2/25. So V.Mart is getting 4.5M on average more per year than Laroche or about 36% more. Still would take V.Mart or Ortiz over Laroche. Laroche,

Again you misread my posts and again you imply I would take Laroche over VMart or Ortiz. First of all, let's finish that myth off. I never said I would take Laroche over Ortiz or VMart. I woudn't. Secondly, I asked you: "what better offensive deal you think you can get on the free agent market for 2 yrs/25 mil. Knock yourself out; it won't be easy."(boldness for clarity)

You still haven't answered this. If you want to show the LaRoche signing was a bad deal, you need to do so.
I wound not classify as a power hitter at all, as you have described him as. His history shows a lot of inconsistency from year to year, unlike Ortiz and VMart. Sure he is moving to a better hitters park, but he is moving to the AL, there very well could be a learning curve there.Laroche get his 2/25 based on a career-year, let's see if he lives up to that. I have serious doubts based on his history, not just looking at last year.

He hit 26 home runs in Nationals Park last year. He hit 20, 33, and 35 in his last three healthy years. He is a power hitter who is moving to a hitter's park. That will more than compensate for his learning curve.
Many hitters hit well 35-38? Some do sure, a lot retire because they cannot hit anymore. How many 35 yr olds hit what Laroche did last year? Anyone close besides Ortiz and VMart? How many even are still playing? Not many I suspect.

We'll see what happens. Could he decline? Sure. That's why he's only getting 2 years and 25 mil. If he were 30, he would be getting a 4-5 yr contract worth 60-70

So, again I ask you, what better offensive deal than Laroche can a team get on the FA market for 2 yrs 25 mil? You haven't been able to answer that so far.

lakeviewdave wrote:Just as one would expect by reading these boards lately, more questions but will not answer questions at hand but will keep stating that one has not addressed his questions (next reponse will be "I answered all questions asked"), would have bet on this response.

Your bringing up Ferguson is not appropriate at all given the sensitivity of the current situation, no place for it here, terrible comparison, take it in public and see the response you get.

I have no idea what you're babbling about in your incoherent first run-on sentence/paragraph. If that's your response to my last post, fine.

As to my appropriate analogy that both upset and eluded you; get over it. I merely used Ferguson as an example of a serious issue that would merit intensity as opposed to our actual issue-Dave Laroche--that doesn't. I made no comment on Ferguson itself or anything about it. If you can't grasp that; that's your problem.

Thanks for English lesson, if I wanted one I would go back to school, stick to the point and stop trying to correct everyone's grammer.

I cannot imagine how a text conversat I on must go with you, thank goodness I do not have to participate in that!!!!!!!! (Point of emphasis, just to point that out).

I am sure alot of others are looking forward to the next CHAPTER of your response (more emphasis for you)!!!!!!!!! (Emphasis, spelling that out for you)

lakeviewdave wrote:Ferguson, a very bad example to make your point. You say that in person to someone or to me and I wouldn't be surprised if you don't get your head knocked off. Your real tough behind a keyboard, you have shown that numerous times.

Again, I have no idea what you are talking about in your first post above, so I can't address it

You are clearly troubled, though. I truly wish you peace.

I liked that post too. I didn't need confirmation I had disproved his arguments, but a bare "." response always helps. If you want to see his original bizarre response, though, it's quoted in my 12:34 post above. It was truly baffling... ;)

Anyway, back to baseball. With trading at a lull, some major questions remain:

1. Who is going to sign Max Scherzer, and for what?

2. Who is going to sign Jon Lester, and for what?

3. Are the Red Sox going to trade for Hamels, and which players from their formidable bounty will it cost them?

4. Who is going to sign Yasmany Tomas and for what, and will he be worth the money/

Until a major trade happens--perhaps Justin Upton to Texas--we can all speculate on these (and other) questions.
