Should someone be banned from the boards?

I would love to see if we've played before

From what I see, we've faced off only 21 times. I used to play in only 20xx leagues but I prefer the Mystery Card format nowadays.

Love the Black Keys and Amy Winehouse. Amazing talent that was troubled and died way too soon. Skiffle was the young English rebellion, or so it seemed, before they found the American Blues. Funny thing was the old Blues had been forgotten here until the Stones, Led Zeppelin, etc started playing it and brought it back to America. I have only been poking a little fun at everyone. I have been around here since 2002 and remember when these boards were a bloodbath. While music has little to do with baseball I see no reason why it cant be discussed. Like someone said, anything beats silence.
And speaking of baseball I have started a sign up for a 60's franchise theme. If anyone is interested please go to the 60's forum board and sign up.

Skiffle is way before my time, Gene. You've posted twice now about it; so, I'm sure you'd post an excellent list about it. I posted about music from the 70's-00's. If that was too esoteric for you, PM me; I'd gladly give you some recommendations. You did come on the 00's list and liked my recommendations there:

So, Gravy is a big music fan. That's good to know. If so, he can productively share his music knowledge on the lists or by "emceeing" on threads of his own. The only music comment he's made so far is negatively carping at existing music discussion. Considering the music knowledge you claim he has, I assume he'll be more productive in the future...

Ah, the real guy. Again, way before my time. Yes, Amy Winehouse's passing was definitely a great loss. She had a brassy voice and style evoking jazz singers of the 60's, but a sound that was entirely new.

And I forgot to thank you, Gene, for your excellent recommendations. I did enjoy Devil makes 3; how couldn't I love a Santa Cruz Americana band whose guitarist actually studied herbology. I particularly liked Murder by Death though. They did an excellent job bringing a Radioheadish experimental sound to Folk on "Lost River," an excellent song.

This isn't a legal arena; so, there isn't one. We can't remove posts or posters, that's SOM's job. We can and should, however, use all posts as evidence when discussing forum behavior in this still-young 2-yr-old forum.

Past posts can tell us:
1. How a poster has posted towards other people. This tells us what a poster is capable of posting to other posters. That's vital information.

2. How other posters reacted to rude or abusive posts. This tells us whether people actually care about rude or abusive posts or are willing to give passes to their buddies. Again, vital information.

3. What a poster has posted in the past. This allows us to address their inconsistencies and hypocrisy in discussions.

Obviously, SOM shouldn't penalize posters twice for the same post. However, as I said above, we are just using the posts for information and evidence. To not do so would be closing our eyes to the truth...not a good thing.

Going through past thread history and sharing quotes publicly can sometimes cause a thread to degrade into something worse. Use of PMs might be better.

I don't remember why I chose Wavygravy2k way back when. When I was trying to think up a screen-name I didn't really know who the real Wavygravy was but I heard of the name. I'm by no means a Wavygravy follower but my favorite Woodstock film moment was the Star spangled Banner by Jimmy Hendrix.

Clarifying evidence is never a bad thing. Allegations or accusations without evidence are. Referencing past posts is a vital part of Forum communication. That's why the "quote" function is there. Also, the quotes aren't being "shared publicly." They are already public posts on the forum.

Three reasons why using past posts as evidence are important:

1. If one is going to criticize someone else's past post, they will need that past post as evidence to do so. Otherwise he or she is just making hollow allegations.

2. When discussing a current problem on the Forum, one needs to provide past posts. Without referring to past posts, nobody will know the true nature or depth of the problem.

3. If someone feels the need to discuss another poster, he or she will definitely need to provide past posts. Otherwise their criticisms or accusations will ring hollow and could damage the poster and the community.

Then I would suggest posting links. Quotes can be easily taken out of context or fabricated entirely, especially when taken from other threads than the active thread. If someone is interested, they can then follow the comments and make their own conclusions based on how much they care to research it for themselves.

Links alone won't work. One has to re-post the post as well. The poster referenced might have numerous posts on the links, which could confuse the reader. Even worse, The links point to many posts and could ensnare others in their wide nets.

I'll consider posting links with some of my future re-posts. Maybe others will do the same. As I've already re-posted his posts on this thread, I will provide the links to the posts where Geekor attacked those newbies:
