I don't remember where I read this but Grant Brisbee or someone else suggested moving Posey to 3B.

Many people have suggested it, and it's not a bad idea with Susac ready in the wings. Posey played shortstop at Florida St. and obviously has the athletic ability for it. However, he's made it absolutely clear he wants no part of third base. He loves everything about catching, including running the game. I don't think anyone wants to be the one to tell Posey to move, and Bochy has made it clear it won't be him.

Atlanta didn't tender a contract to Medlin or Beachy (both coming off 2nd Tommy John's) so both are now free agents.

Medlin surprises me a little--he will be worth a chance for some team--he has the right attitude, and actually I think he will get a better deal as a free agent--though the Atlanta fans will miss him.

C to 3b mid career transitions have almost invariably failed miserably in baseball history.

The Braves discussed with Medlen a one-year offer that guaranteed him $5.8 million with a club option for 2016, but the salary in 2016 – buying out his would-be first year of free agency – was deemed unsuitable by the pitcher.

he must feel very very confident after his second TJS....5.8M is had to pass up after being on the shelf for so long

Probably human nature to forget the busts....but I can recall several successful c-3b transitions

Sandoval
Torre
Donaldson
Neil Walker was a 3 year minor league C
Brandon Inge....had a long career as utility guy

I'm sure there are more that I cannot recall

and of course i can recall many more C's that moved to other positions....Murphy...Biggio...etc

Bravos pick up another local guy( he went to the high school in my back yard..Etowah in Cherokee County Ga...I could walk through the backyard and look over the RF fence)

Nick Markakis for 44M for 4 years

Solid player.....but I think I would have rather given that coin to Heyward

There's no chance Heyward is signing for 4 years/44M...unless he tanks or gets seriously hurt this year. 6 years/90-100 mil would be a closer bet.

Now the big question is what they can get for Justin Upton. They reportedly asked for Taijuan Walker and got rejected. There' s some speculation of a deal for Joey Gallo, who has the best power in the minors. However, I would be stunned if Texas gave him up for one year of Upton.
