Maury Wills-70's Mystery Catcher?

Don't know how this happened, but my opponent had 2 healthy catchers but somehow Maury Wills was inserted as the starting catcher for this game. Not only that, he threw out 4-5 steal attempts by my team. Anyone else think HAL was a little crazy for doing this?

I guess the manager could have started Wills as catcher against RH pitchers last night? Throwing out 4 of 5 runners, I might keep him in the line-up. I've never seen that without injuries.

Wockenfuss was the only available catcher. Haller was injured. Still, it makes no sense.

Here's another example of Catcher Impossible. Dave Hollins is not a backup catcher, but, was in the lineup as catcher. Manwaring was the healthy catcher and should have played. Karkovice was injured.

Another possibility could be, maybe the manager has the B/U catcher set in a pinch hit role under team strategy? That might force HAL to start another player as catcher, when the primary catcher is injured, trying to save the B/U catcher for the pinch-hit role? Doesn't make sense, but we know HAL doesn't follow "normal" logic sometimes.

Another possibility os that since Wockenfuss has a strong LHP balance you've got him listed as "Avoid RHP", and since Catfish Hunter is a righty...

Thanks for the insights, I'm thinking the FALCON29 answer makes sense.

The funny part now is both of my regular catchers (Hundley and Dyer) are injured. I do have Jose Morales who is a catcher but is also my DH vs. lefties. I will see how this plays out (if I face a lefty) and let you know what happens tonight.
