I think we need some more clarifications on the rules before we draft, especially around the two "extras" and trading. I'm in a current league by BrotherA4him with the same concept, you can see there rules here (viewtopic.php?f=9&t=636956), along with a list of eligibles by team.

Obviously this league can be different, but it is important to know the rules on the two extras before drafting a team.

My 2 cents.

Ok my pick is below. Clarification on rules is very simple. After the 12 franchises are chosen you fill out your draft order and please name your team so it is recognizable as your franchise. City name or nickname or both. Auto Draft any players whose one of 5 cards played for your franchise, If all 5 seasons are with your team no one can draft him or pick him up from waivers during season. He is your exclusive property. A guy like Cepeda for instance is available to Giants and Cards and Braves so list him high in your draft order if two or more of those 3 teams are drafted. Your two "extra" free agents will be anyone who is not carded to any of the 12 teams drafted so you would want to put them high in your auto draft since they are available to everyone. The above instance of Cepeda means he is only eligible for the teams carded even if they do not have him on their active roster he would still only be an available free agent to Giants and Cards and Braves if their franchises are chosen. Clear? $80 mil NO DH, 95/90/80 waivers, Auto Draft all players. YOU ALSO MUST USE YOUR HOME BALLPARK OF YOUR FRANCHISE....Milwaukee and Atlanta Braves are the same franchise. As are NY and SF Giants and LA and CA Angels

Sorry, I have a couple more questions:

1. Can you trade one of your franchise player to a team he has no card for? In other words, can Cepeda be traded to the Cubs? Or do players always need to be on a team they are carded for?

2. Can the two extra non-franchise players be dropped and replaced with other non-franchise players during the season?

Thanks for the clarifications.

My first exposure to baseball was in the 60s listening to the Cardinals on the radio with my dad. The announcers were Harry Carey and Jack Buck....Holy Cow!

A PLAYER MUST ONLY BE ON A ROSTER OF A TEAM HE IS CARDED FOR. This is a franchise theme. Cepeda must be on the Giants, Cards, Braves or remain as an unused player in the league.

2. Can the two extra non-franchise players be dropped and replaced with other non-franchise players during the season? FREE AGENTS MAY BE DROPPED OR TRADED AS LONG AS YOU DO NOT EXCEED TWO FA's> THESE FA's CAN NOT BE CARDED TO ANY OF THE 12 FRANCHISES DRAFTED.

Thanks for the clarifications.
