Final 36 as of today

These are the current unofficial standings showing the teams not mathematically eliminated from reaching the final 36. As the standings show, if you cannot reach 350 points, you are eliminated. The standings differ from what is published on the SOM tournament standings link in three respects. They remove Spider67 and Buzz082308 from rankings 1 and 2. In fact both of these teams have been eliminated. They also add 2 points to the teams that have won their semi-final playoff series, such as Waynick, but have not completed the finals. The SOM tourney link does not do this until the finals are completed. They also do not show points for the teams that are mathematically eliminated.

The magic numbers when all is said and done appear to be 352-353 and will come down to the results of Event 5, League 7, which is about at the halfway point. I apologize in advance for any errors in my numbers or methodology and lack of formatting in the table below. Again these are unofficial and owners should independently arrive at their own conclusions.

Good luck in the playoffs to all the teams already rated ahead of me

I sent an email to strat today to ask them to remove the filler team point totals for Spider 67 and buzz082308 from their standings point totals.

Thanks again Spider and Buzz for being fillers in Event 5 League 7!

It looks like there are still a number of PC tourney live teams (not fillers) in Event 5 League 7 that could still make the final 36 - especially with a good playoff run - in particular - mpcharette,Jr_Shark, ycbill, Schubertfamily, Carlerik, and kihoover.

We'll monitor this over the next couple of weeks to see if any of them are able to make a final push into the top 36, or whether they fall to the numbers game. For many of these players, it may depend on whether or not they can make the playoffs and make a deep playoff run. Before considering tiebreakers, by my calculation they would need to get the following points in Event 5 in order to make the playoffs (before considering tie-breakers - which could go for or against them):

mpcharette - 84 (just needs to go 35-25 in his last 60, or get some playoff bonus points)
Jr_Shark - 92 (including playoff points)
ycbill - 91(including playoff points)
Schubertfamily - 93 (including playoff points)
kihoover - 91 (including playoff points)
Carlerik - 77 (just needs to go 33-27 in his last 60)

As of Saturday night's games (December 13), there were 60 games left to play in Event 5 League 7. The regular season of Event 5 League 7 will end on Friday January 2/15. The playoffs for Event 5 League 7 will be done on Wednesday January 14.

So the beginning of the playoffs might be delayed until mid-January.

You can post your ballpark selection for the semi-finals at any time:) Dr. Marc is the team of the week -- advancing to the finals in Event 2, League 5, and pulling out a playoff spot in Event 5, League 6. He still needs to win another playoff series or two to clinch a spot in the cherished Final 36.
