The case for Steve Jeltz

PostFri Dec 12, 2014 8:26 am

Mr. Jeltz must seem to be an odd member of the new card ballot, but he fits into one of the player types that is in short supply despite the massive size of the player pool -- and that is a talented utility infielder.

If my memory of the actual card is accurate, he is a 2 at all three non-1B infield positions with decent to excellent e-ratings, is a switch hitter and even provides some OBP and the occasional dinger.

So not only should you vote for Jeltz, it would be a really good idea to get the Jeltz bumper stickers and yard signs, and also to slide some illegal campaign cash under the table to really get his candidacy rolling!

Vote for Jeltz! Early and often!

I'm sorry and no offense, but it makes no sense IMO.

The only good thing about the addition is they are listening and doing what is asked. For that, I commend them.

It almost seems like the Hall of Fame voting. Are we going to pic guys now for ATG because they play a bunch of positions? Is that now a prerequisite?

I've said it before, there are a lot of players in ATG. What is needed, IMO, is the players to fill out the weaker teams for theme leagues. A number of EXP teams need help.

I'd like to see a players best season added to ATG as well.

Thank you, Visick, for your kind and thoughtful observations, certainly no offense taken, this is a knock-down drag-out bare-knuckled American election, after all.

As for all the rest of you, and I apologize for shouting in advance, but DON'T LISTEN TO VISICK!

I have no problem with adding all expansion players, and Jeltz.

Are you all not aware that the key Vogon in "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" happens to be named Jeltz? That fact alone warrants his election to the player pool.

Think of the added benefits of having a man like Steve Jeltz on your roster. Always fretful about his place on the roster, he will likely be the first to volunteer to go on that all-important beer run when supplies are running perilously low.

A vote for Jeltz is a vote for freedom!

How much are you willing to allot to him on your team?

He can't play multiple positions at once...

He's essentially Jose Oquendo, with better D perhaps

gotta agree with visick-
we gotta get the guys in that will get some regular use-
and even though Im a Phils fan- Jeltz imo does not warrant a card;

However, your mentioning the Hitchhikers Guide does get you points with me FWIW :)

I understand the thinking. If I were building a real life team I might want some well rounded utility players.

But in strat with a hard salary cap I am getting as much of my money in starting players as possible.
My bench is populated with the cheapest players possible to maximize the above.
That means if Jeltz is really any good he likely get priced out of consideration for my bench.
If he is not good enough to claim a starting position I am not going to have him on my team.

Might not mind having him in the set though because if he costs say 1.5 mil or more and someone else puts him on their bench could make the difference in them keeping or dropping an expensive player who will fit nicely on my team
