You are probably right - at least before the internet got big and popular.

I specifically used that term in hopes that folks (at least the naive ones) would think about looking it up to find out what is unacceptable these days in cyberland.

Not a fan of the Volquez or Romo deals for KC and SF, respectively, although the Romo contract isn't as objectionable. I love that 3 way trade: Love the Rays side and think the Nats did well to get a SS prospect. The Padres playing for "now" and getting the self-admitted lazy Wil Myers is pretty funny. Yet even their side could work out. Just wouldn't count on it. Particularly in a division with the Giants and Dodgers.

I like the Volquez trade: not too much money for a talented SP who turned the corner last year. I'm not as crazy about the Romo deal, as I'm not a big fan. However, it isn't a terrible deal for a pitcher who can set-up for Casilla or close if Casilla falters.

I love the 3-way-trade for the Rays and the Nats, not so much for the Pads. I agree the Rays scored getting a legitimate power-hitting prospect in Souza and a solid SP candidate in Burch Smith. I also think the Nats scored getting their SS of the future in Turner and a great pitching prospect in Ross. They got Myers low, and that was smart, but giving up Turner, Ross, and Smith for a guy who is completely lost against breaking balls and is a it lazy was giving up too much.

OK I went back and checked. I haven't posted since Sept 1st and my last game was played Oct 31st. About once a week I check the boards and cant stand what I am reading as you just cant laugh anymore on this thing until now. Those two posts are as good as Abbott and Costello and whom is really on 1st. No, I didn't vote and I am surprised that 28 people still post on this thing! Sorry make that 29

Well, if it's any comfort, the Giants didn't do anything either, and they have glaring holes at 3b, Lf, and in the rotation. The best deal the Mets probably made were the ones they didn't make. In Syndergaard, Nimmo, Conforto, Montero,and Herrera, they have a nice little cache of young players, and other teams could have wanted them for too little. I know Alderson hasn't earned much faith from Mets fans, but as an A's fan (2nd favorite), I still believe he can help them improve.

He's certainly restocked the farm, and whittled down the bad contracts, and I'm certainly not an advocate of spending money just to spend money, but they spend like they are the A's or the Pirates. They are sitting in the largest market in the country with their own TV network and a relatively new stadium so I'd like to think that now they can start increasing the payroll a bit and start using some of that rebuilt farm system (which IMHO, is decidedly slanted towards pitchers and not nearly enough towards position players) to start improving the big league club. I simply can't take another 70-80 win season, and right now I think their big league roster is looking like just that type of team.

You'll forgive me if I don't feel sorry for your Giants given their success in the past few seasons.
