If you don't mind a newbie who only played the board game growing up, I'll take California.

Congrats, pacobody, on creating an interesting league concept and getting it to fill so quickly!

I think the rules as you state them are pretty clear, but I just want to confirm something for absolute certain before we draft. Here's rule E:
E) THE STATE SET IS DETERMINED BY SOM's SET DROP DOWN LIST. Example WARREN SPAN is on the MIL-POST list but his '47 card says BSB.....he is MILWAUKEE. It goes by the DROP DOWN LIST which were Pre-Set by TSN

This would mean, wouldn't it, that the players on the Dodger and Giant teams who moved to California in the late 1950s but who are under the BKN-post and NYG-post Drop Down lists would still be considered NY players. Is that correct?

If this is right, then it would mean that players like Mays 1962 and Koufax 1965 would be considered NY players.

I"m pretty sure that's what you mean, but these are important players and so I think it's good that we're 100% clear on this before we draft.

Thanks, OL

Based on pacoboy's rules, it does sound like Mays and Koufax are on the NY rosters. But that does seem intuitively wrong. I think those two guys should be banned from this league, so as not to engender unnecessary confusion and hurt feelings. Especially that Mays guy. ;)

Well, I wasn't quite sure how to bring this up--but it definitely needs to be discussed. Even though I'm a NY manager, it does seem to be worth asking whether NY should get all of those players who played in LA & SF. I'm not sure how BDWard, the other NY manager, feels. Anyway, 3 players, and potentially 4, have a stake in these players, so we need to be clear on who gets to draft them.

For me a key issue is whether pacoboy considered this question when he was making the rules, and I'll trust his testimony on this. If it was always his intention that NY get those players, then they should get the players, especially since this is consistent with the rules as they were stated when we signed up.

OTOH, if it's a question that pacoboy hadn't previously considered (like the NEL pure relievers question) then a bit of discussion might be appropriate. This is a large body of major players--not a small group like the former Boston Braves--and how they are handled has implications for the entire league.

Anyway, my view is that that pacoboy is the commish, and I'll cheerfully accept his ruling. However, the question is worthy of exploration, and we do need to sort this out before we draft.

OTOH, banning these players (especially that Mays guy!) from the draft altogether is probably NOT going to fly! But we can't blame Druid for trying. :D ;)

To further muddy the water, those players like Mays are carded to the California group, but listed in the New York drop down groupings. Mays 1965 card is listed SF. He is included in the NYG group though.

Mays is understandable. Drysdale pitched about 200 innings for Brooklyn and 3,200 for LA, but is listed as BKN.
