Adam,

I see you bought the control team (Roger Clemens 41-0!)

The manager is "Nicole".

Was that THE Nicole???? :o

Wow, now that is a nostalgic trip in the Hot Tub Time Machine....! :o

Yup, of course it joined the league to screw it over by drafting every good player in the set. We had Bernie (remember him? lol) reassign the team to my son who to this day, I'm sure, has the highest winning percentage in SOM online history for the 86 set because the league as a group decided to keep the dominant team to see if it could go 162-0 against all the other teams trying to suck. It didn't go undefeated, but remained an interesting experiment and probably kept any other team from "breaking character". Also though, in those free 86 leagues, there weren't any free credits awarded for winning, which was also key in making the league work.

As I said before, it was great fun, and I would do again for sure, but we would have to have SOM agree NOT to award credits or something like that or someone could easily spoil the league...

I was in a league with Bickel and shot him an inter-league message to say yo. I get a message back that says "No, it's me, Nicole!" So I send back a ? or something like that and she goes "I'm Nicole. I'm just a precocious nine year old who"...etc etc.

I couldn't believe Doug gave "Nicole" credits, it still creeps me out to this day.

:o :o :o

And the hair on the back of my neck still stands up every time I hear the word "precocious". Yes, "she" spelled it perfectly, too.

I was actually looking through the archives yesterday and came across a big thread about the Nicole aftermath. Totally forgot about that story. Didn't know PBTR was connected - or maybe I totally forgot what transpired.

Is PBTR still around - and/or playing under a different name?

I don't think he's played for a couple of years now, at least not under his old handle. And I don't think PBTR was "connected" to the drama per se, I just think he offered out a few credits like a lot of the other guys apparently did, too. So you might see a team with his PBTR name in the manager slot, but it wasn't him at the wheel.

I hardly remember the aftermath of all that any more. If I recall, it wasn't the Kaycee Nicole of internet fame, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaycee_Nicole, it was just some copycat version, was it not?

Going back that far just reminds me of how many managers' names are not here anymore. :( At the time of the drama I was more of a reader than a poster. My gosh, the internet was basically brand spanking new then and I was trying to figure out all these goofy characters on the boards who were constantly yelling at each other...fun times!

I've been away for at least a couple years as well but I'm back for now - at least.

A couple nights ago I saw Marc's handle appear under the registered users list for a few minutes. :o

Last I chatted with Marc he was not doing so well.

If he's healthy and back to playing, that would be a huge burst of happy! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I went to the archives just now...OMG how hilarious! I'm going to go post a link in the "How Bad Can You Be?" thread. Apparently we had this discussion eight years ago and it's pretty funny...

I have seen a basic consensus on the overpriced position players in the 2013 set, but what about the overpriced pitchers that contribute to these underachieving teams? Thanks!
