I think you're spot on. I believe the reason for that is this individual is not really interested in baseball as much as he is getting a rise out of someone, which he excells at. This is why I have blocked him.

This is a thread about the greatest SS's in baseball right now and war movies. Steve F has now posted twice on it without contributing to either subject. If anyone is trying to get "a rise out of anyone" it is he. Coyote posted nothing about those subjects either, so he's just trolling as well.

As for Coyote, it truly creeps me out he spends time thinking about my personal responses. As to the counterarguments he listed, there's nothing wrong with any of them, except #5 which I never said. Although I and others wouldn't phrase them as vulgarly as he, they are all legitimate counterarguments. Ironically, Coyote didn't guess right, since I didn't use any of them in response to Bombers' erroneous post.

Now, it would be nice if posters could stop talking about other posters and post about shortstops and/or war movies. This isn't a gossip forum, it's a forum about SOM, MLB, and other subjects. I and others are passionate about baseball, so It would be nice if we could keep it that way.

I didn't have to look very hard for this one. It is on page one of this thread.

l.strether wrote:This isn't your top ten list, and as we've discussed before, WAR is not the end-all/be-all arbiter of a player's worth, no matter how much you mistakenly think it is. It definitely isn't here. So, you're wrong.

I'm sure we are about to find out how wrong I am about these quotes. ;)

Even though I no longer read someone's posts (unless they are quoted), my guess is he used at least a few of these counter arguments:

1. I may or may not have said that.
2. You took that out of context; you didn't list the entire quote, so it doesn't count.
3. You're ignorant (e.g., "Blah, blah, blah; I'm surprised you didn't know that).
4. You're a hypocrite (complete with quote of something supposedly unflattering that you said).
5. My arguments are always well thought out--yours, not so much.
6. You're a liar (complete with a quote "proving" it).

Then again, I might be wrong and he actually have responded, "You're right; I didn't realize I had said that. My apologies." However, I think it's more likely I'm so close that nobody will believe that I didn't actually read his reply!

Spot on coyote303. It was #2 this time.

My lord. Speaking of trolls, Bombers, that's your fifth post on this thread without any mention of SS's or war movies. That makes you an even bigger troll than Steve F or Coyote.

What's even funnier is I make no mention of "context" in the quote you posted. If you're going to troll, Bomb, at least do it intelligently. Finally, if somebody quotes one out of context, it is perfectly fine to point that out. The fact you don't know that is even more hilarious than your trolling... ;)

Wrong again, Bombers. I didn't say that one either. And counterarguments aren't "excuses;" they're counter arguments. I'm not surprised you don't know that as well... ;)

That's six troll posts for you now, Bomb. Care to try for seven?

Jason, thanks for the recommendations. I was under the impression "Reds" was about the Russian Revolution and Russian Civil War. It looks like it is about a lot of things, including a love story and not really a war movie, which makes me a lot less interested in seeing it. .... I am trying to find a movie called, "Stalingrad", about the battle of Stalingrad.

#1 again and again. Care to do it again?

Since you are unable to let a conversation end without without making a ridiculous statement or claim I'm just letting you know that I am through with this and will let it die with yet another false claim of yours. Goodbye strether. :ugeek:
