Any list of today's top 10 third basemen that doesn't include Matt Carpenter around #4-6, let alone at all, is glaringly deficient. The top 4 are about right though. I suspect that Beltre could be primed for a massive production drop off given his age, but ya never know.

The entire logic behind your argument is glaringly deficient. If you think Carpenter is so much better than those 3bmen--which he isn't--why don't you at least try to show how. You'll fail, but you should at least try.

Hi,

It looks like everyone skipped over the greatest western ever The Outlaw Josey Wales.

Carpenter has a career obp/slugging split of .379/.433 while missing only about 4-5 days a year for scheduled days off. He's dominated the postseason for a cherry on top.

Arenado is .314/.450 in the greatest hitter's ballpark in baseball history while missing an average of 40 games a year, and Frazier is .325/.451 in a good homer park.

It's not even a close call.

1. The Searchers--John Ford's best film and Wayne's best performance in this Western rescue epic.
2. The Wild Bunch--Peckinpah's classic post-Western chronicles the last days of 5 outdated outlaws.
3. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance--Wayne and Stewart shine in brilliant study of myth and/in the West.
4. My Darling Clementine--Fonda excels as Earp in greatest film version of Wyatt Earp story.
5. Stagecoach--John Wayne's first great film and Ford's first great Western in Monument Valley.
6. The Proposition--Australian gem about honor, violence, and family in the 19th c. Outback.
7. Unforgiven--Eastwood's brilliant Bergmanesque Western about violence and the past.
8. The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly. Leone's best of his classic Eastwood Spaghetti Westerns.
9. The Outlaw Josey Wales--Gritty Civil War western has one of Eastwood's best performances.
10. Tombstone. Not as good as Clementine, but much more fun. Kilmer is brilliant.

You're right; it's not a close call. You are clearly wrong. This isn't the best OBP 3b poll; it's the best 3b poll. Arenado is a much better fielding third baseman than Carpenter and he has substantially better power, Coors or no.

Todd Frazier is a better fielder than Carpenter, has more power, and has much more speed, which makes him a better all-around 3b than Carpenter as well.

So, nice try, TN. However, I said you would fail, and you did.

1. Anthony Rendon, WS--Greatest college hitter of his era now the greatest hitting 3b. Has speed as well.
2. Josh Donaldson, TO--Blue collar stud with power, defense, and smarts will become Jays' leader.
3. Evan Longoria. TB--Healthy year and better plate discipline could have him back at #1 in a year or so.
4. Kyle Seager, SEA--Wicked LH power and strong D makes him SEA's other stud.
5. Adrian Beltre, TEX--On the decline now, but future HOFer still rocks the Corner.
6. Nolan Arenado, CO--Defensive whiz with potent bat will rise on list in the future as power further develops.
7. Todd Frazier, CN--Greatly under-rated player has considerable power and decent speed.
8. Pablo Sandoval, BS--Sweet-swinging switch hitter better athlete than many think. Still needs to shed lbs.
9. Manny Machado, BLT--Similar player to Arenado. Not nearly as consistent, but possibly greater upside.
10. David Wright, NY--Has talent to be higher on list, but offense has been on the decline.

Methinks you thinks wrong. if you feel Beltre is a better third baseman now than my top 4, you should be able to explain how. At this point in his career, he's not better. As to Carpenter, also feel free to explain why he is a better third baseman than my top ten. A previous poster wasn't able to do it. Since Carpenter isn't better than any of those ten, that wasn't his fault.

Par-a-noi-a: "a mental condition characterized by delusions of persecution, unwarranted jealousy, or exaggerated self-importance, typically elaborated into an organized system. It may be an aspect of chronic personality disorder, of drug abuse, or of a serious condition such as schizophrenia in which the person loses touch with reality."
